Gujar Khan: Rawalpindi Ring Road Main Carriageway 99% Complete

Gujar Khan, September 10, 2026 (Pothwar.com): Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Salman Ghani, accompanied by the Secretary of Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering, conducted a detailed inspection of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project and reviewed ongoing construction, progress and remaining works.

During the visit, officials briefed the commissioner and secretary on the overall progress of the project, completed works and outstanding construction activities. They were informed that 99 percent of the main carriageway of the Ring Road has been completed.

Commissioner Salman Ghani directed the concerned authorities to prioritize the completion of the remaining works, particularly drains, retaining walls and interchange ramps.

The commissioner also inspected the Theliyan Interchange and directed officials to ensure that the temporary merge with the M-2 Motorway and ramps leading towards Lahore remain fully operational until the interchange is completed. He stressed that traffic flow must be maintained to prevent congestion and unnecessary difficulties for commuters.

He further instructed the relevant departments to strengthen the temporary traffic management plan and take all necessary measures to ensure the safe and uninterrupted movement of vehicles.

During the visit, officials also discussed the future course of action regarding the single-network tolling system through the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). Commissioner Ghani directed the FWO to complete all remaining works on the Ring Road as soon as possible while strictly maintaining the required technical and construction standards.

Speaking on the importance of the project, Commissioner Salman Ghani said the Rawalpindi Ring Road is a major development initiative aimed at improving the city’s traffic system, reducing congestion within the urban area, facilitating inter-district and inter-provincial traffic movement, and promoting economic and commercial activity across the region.

He directed officials to continuously monitor the project’s progress, ensure completion of the remaining works within the timeframe, and give special attention to construction quality, speed and public convenience.

The commissioner emphasized that the timely completion of development projects is among the top priorities of the Punjab government, and that negligence or unnecessary delays would not be tolerated.
