Rawalpindi: Court Awards Death Sentence to Man Convicted of Killing Citizen Inside Mosque

Rawalpindi Police’s effective investigation and professional prosecution have led to a major development as a court has awarded the death sentence to a man convicted of murdering a citizen inside a mosque.

According to police officials, the convict, identified as Saima, had shot and killed a citizen inside a mosque in the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad Police Station, Rawalpindi, in March 2024 due to a previous personal dispute. The incident had created concern among citizens as the victim was targeted at a place of worship.

After a thorough investigation, collection of solid evidence, and effective follow-up of the case, the court found the accused guilty and awarded him a death sentence for the murder. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 1 million as compensation.

In addition, the convict was awarded 12 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 200,000 under other sections of the law.

Police officials stated that the punishment was awarded due to strong evidence presented before the court and the effective legal proceedings carried out by the investigation and prosecution teams.

City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera appreciated the efforts of the SSP Investigation, investigation officers, and legal teams for their professional work and successful prosecution of the case.

The CPO said that ensuring punishment for criminals through modern investigation techniques, collection of evidence, and strong legal action remains among the top priorities of Rawalpindi Police.
