London: Sisters Hajra Zahid and Haleema Zahid, both from Kahuta drown in Wales

لندن /کہوٹہ (پوٹھوارڈاٹ کام، محمد نصیر راجہ – 19 جون 2025): ویلز کے نیشنل پارک میں پانی سے نکالی جانے والی دو بہنوں کو خراجِ عقیدت پیش کیا جا رہا ہے جو افسوسناک طور پر جاں بحق ہو گئیں۔

حاجرہ زاہد، عمر 29 سال، اور حلیمہ زاہد، عمر 25 سال، 11 جون کو شمالی ویلز کے علاقے ایریری (Eryri) نیشنل پارک میں واٹکن پاتھ (Watkin Path) کے تالابوں سے مردہ حالت میں ملی تھیں۔ یہ پگڈنڈی “یر وِدوا” (Yr Wyddfa) یا “سنوڈن” (Snowdon) پہاڑ کی چوٹی تک جاتی ہے۔

تحقیقات کے مطابق دونوں بہنیں، جن کا تعلق کہوٹہ سے تھا، یونیورسٹی کے دوستوں کے ہمراہ اس علاقے کی سیر کے لیے آئی تھیں۔ نمازِ جنازہ کے بعد دونوں کی میتیں شدید غم و اندوہ کے عالم میں پاکستان روانہ کر دی گئیں۔

حاجرہ اور حلیمہ چار ماہ قبل ماسٹرز کی تعلیم کے لیے برطانیہ آئی تھیں۔ ان کا تعلق گلزارِ قائد، راولپنڈی سے تھا اور وہ کہوٹہ میں پیدا ہوئیں۔

حاجرہ زاہد شادی شدہ تھیں اور ان کے شوہر ہاشم منہاس کے ساتھ دو بیٹے ہیں، جن کی عمریں چھ اور تین سال ہیں۔ دونوں بہنیں چیسٹر یونیورسٹی میں زیرِ تعلیم تھیں اور مالٹسبی، راہدرھم، ساؤتھ یارکشائر میں رہائش پذیر تھیں۔

ایک قریبی رشتہ دار نے پوتھوہار ڈاٹ کام کو بتایا:
“خاندان صدمے سے نڈھال ہے۔ پولیس اور یونیورسٹی کے بیانات میں تضاد ہے۔ پولیس کا کہنا ہے کہ ایک بہن ڈوبی اور دوسری نے بچانے کی کوشش کی، مگر ایک کی لاش سطحِ آب پر ملی جبکہ دوسری کی لاش دس منٹ کے فاصلے پر ملی۔

عینی شاہدین کا کہنا ہے کہ دونوں ایک ساتھ پانی میں داخل ہوئیں۔ پولیس نے تاحال خاندان کو کوئی واضح معلومات نہیں دیں اور نہ ہی کوئی مدد فراہم کی جا رہی ہے۔”

مزید کہا گیا کہ حاجرہ کے بچے بار بار اپنی ماں کے بارے میں پوچھتے ہیں، لیکن انہیں ابھی تک یہ دلخراش حقیقت نہیں بتائی گئی کہ ان کی والدہ ایک المناک حادثے میں جاں بحق ہو چکی ہیں۔

London / Kahuta (Pothwar.com, Mohammad Naseer Raja – June 19, 2025): Tributes have been paid to two sisters who died after being pulled from the water at one of Wales’ national parks.

Hajra Zahid, 29, and Haleema Zahid, 25, were found in pools on the Watkin Path – which leads to the summit of Yr Wyddfa – also known as Snowdon – on 11 June.

The two sisters from Kahuta drowned in Eryri National Park in North Wales after travelling to the area with friends from university, an inquest has heard.

Hajra Zahid, 29, and Haleema Zahid, 25, were pulled from pools on the Watkin Path, which leads to the summit of Yr Wyddfa, or Snowdon, in North Wales. Their funeral prayers were offered, and their bodies were flown to Kahuta, amid lots of sorrow and concerns.

Hajra Zahid and Haleema Zahid came to the UK for their master’s degrees four months ago. They were from Gulzar-e-Quaid in Rawalpindi and were born in Kahuta near Pindi.

Hajra Zahid was married to Hasham Minhas and the couple had two sons, aged six and three. They were studying at Chester University. They lived in Maltsby, Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

A relative told pothwar.com: “The family is shattered. The police and the university are making contradictory statements.

The police say one sister drowned and the other drowned while trying to save her, but the body of one sister was found floating on the surface, and the other sister’s body was found ten minutes away.

The witnesses say both entered the water together. The police have not informed us of anything and are not helping the family.

The relative said Hajra’s sons keep asking about their mother, but they have not been told their mother has died tragically.
