Gujar Khan: Fire Erupts at Gas Cylinder Refilling Agency in Ward No. 19

گوجر خان (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام ، 14 جون 2026) — وارڈ نمبر 19، محلہ غریب آباد میں واقع ایک گیس سلنڈر ایجنسی میں گیس سلنڈرز کی ری فلنگ کے دوران اچانک آگ بھڑک اٹھی، جس کے باعث علاقے میں خوف و ہراس پھیل گیا اور رہائشی علاقوں میں جاری غیر قانونی گیس ری فلنگ کے عمل پر ایک بار پھر سنگین سوالات اٹھ گئے ہیں۔

عینی شاہدین کے مطابق آگ اس وقت بھڑکی جب ایجنسی میں گیس سلنڈرز کی ری فلنگ کی جا رہی تھی۔ گیس کی آتش گیر نوعیت کے باعث شعلے تیزی سے پھیل گئے جس سے قریبی آبادی میں شدید خوف و ہراس پیدا ہو گیا۔ ممکنہ دھماکوں اور آگ کے مزید پھیلنے کے خدشے کے پیش نظر متعدد خاندانوں نے احتیاطاً اپنے گھروں کو عارضی طور پر خالی کر دیا۔

واقعے کی اطلاع ملتے ہی مقامی افراد موقع پر پہنچ گئے اور اپنی مدد آپ کے تحت آگ پر قابو پانے کی کوششیں شروع کر دیں۔ بعد ازاں ریسکیو 1122 کی ٹیمیں فوری طور پر جائے وقوعہ پر پہنچ گئیں اور پیشہ ورانہ انداز میں امدادی و آگ بجھانے کی کارروائیاں شروع کر دیں۔ ریسکیو اہلکاروں نے بروقت کارروائی کرتے ہوئے آگ کو قریبی گھروں اور دیگر عمارتوں تک پھیلنے سے روک دیا، جس سے ایک بڑے سانحے سے بچاؤ ممکن ہوا۔

ابتدائی اطلاعات کے مطابق اس واقعے میں کوئی جانی نقصان یا زخمی ہونے کی اطلاع موصول نہیں ہوئی۔ تاہم آگ کی شدت کے باعث گیس ایجنسی کی عمارت کو شدید نقصان پہنچا اور دکان کی چھت زمین بوس ہو گئی۔ متعلقہ حکام کی جانب سے مالی نقصان کے تخمینے کا عمل جاری ہے۔

اہلِ علاقہ کا کہنا ہے کہ مذکورہ گیس ایجنسی کو ماضی میں بھی متعدد مرتبہ حفاظتی ضوابط کی خلاف ورزی اور غیر قانونی گیس سلنڈر ری فلنگ کے باعث سیل کیا جا چکا تھا۔ تاہم ان کے بقول انتظامی کارروائیوں کے باوجود وہاں غیر قانونی طور پر ری فلنگ کا سلسلہ جاری رہا، جو بالآخر اس حادثے کا سبب بنا۔

اس واقعے کے بعد رہائشی علاقوں میں قائم گیس ری فلنگ مراکز کے خلاف عوامی تشویش میں اضافہ ہو گیا ہے۔ شہریوں نے ضلعی انتظامیہ اور متعلقہ اداروں سے مطالبہ کیا ہے کہ ایسے خطرناک کاروباروں کو فوری طور پر شہر سے باہر منتقل کیا جائے اور غیر قانونی طور پر گیس ری فلنگ کرنے والے عناصر کے خلاف سخت قانونی کارروائی عمل میں لائی جائے۔

مقامی رہائشیوں نے زور دیا کہ حفاظتی قوانین پر مؤثر عملدرآمد اور باقاعدہ نگرانی ہی مستقبل میں ایسے افسوسناک واقعات کی روک تھام اور شہریوں کے جان و مال کے تحفظ کو یقینی بنا سکتی ہے۔

According to eyewitnesses, the fire suddenly erupted while gas cylinders were being refilled at the agency. Due to the highly combustible nature of the material involved, flames spread rapidly, creating fear and uncertainty among people living in the surrounding neighbourhood. Several families, fearing possible explosions and further escalation of the incident, temporarily evacuated their homes as a precautionary measure.

Local residents immediately rushed to the scene and attempted to control the fire using available resources before emergency services arrived. Upon receiving information about the incident, Rescue 1122 teams responded promptly and reached the location without delay. Rescue personnel launched firefighting operations and successfully prevented the blaze from spreading to adjacent buildings and residential properties.

Initial reports indicate that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, the intensity of the fire caused significant structural damage to the agency, resulting in the collapse of the shop’s roof. Authorities are currently assessing the extent of the financial losses caused by the fire.

Residents of the area alleged that the gas agency had previously been sealed several times by authorities due to safety violations and illegal gas cylinder refilling practices. Despite these actions, they claimed that the refilling operation continued unlawfully, ultimately leading to the accident.

The incident has renewed public concern regarding the presence of gas refilling centres within densely populated residential neighbourhoods. Citizens have urged the district administration and relevant authorities to relocate such facilities outside city limits and take strict legal action against individuals and businesses involved in unauthorised gas cylinder refilling.

Residents emphasised that stronger enforcement of safety regulations is essential to prevent similar incidents in the future and to safeguard the lives and property of the public.
