Gujar Khan: Historic Islampura Jabbar Cattle Market Closed by Para Force, Public Protests Erupt
اسلام پورہ جبر کی قدیمی مویشی منڈی پیرا فورس نے بند کر دی، عوامی احتجاج شدت اختیار کر گیا
گوجرخان (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام / 25 مئی 2026) — گوجرخان کے مشرقی علاقوں میں اس وقت شدید غم و غصہ پایا جا رہا ہے جب اسلام پورہ جبر کی تاریخی اور قدیمی مویشی منڈی کو پیرا فورس نے مقامی پولیس کی مدد سے اچانک بند کر دیا۔ کسانوں، مویشی پال حضرات، بیوپاریوں اور مقامی عوام نے اس اقدام کو غریب کسانوں اور چھوٹے تاجروں کے معاشی قتل کے مترادف قرار دیتے ہوئے شدید احتجاج کیا ہے، خصوصاً ایسے وقت میں جب عیدالاضحیٰ کی تیاریاں اپنے عروج پر ہیں۔
مقامی ذرائع کے مطابق اسلام پورہ جبر کی یہ قدیمی مویشی منڈی کئی دہائیوں بلکہ صدیوں پر محیط تاریخ رکھتی ہے اور پورے خطے کی اہم تجارتی منڈی سمجھی جاتی ہے۔ گوجرخان کے مشرقی علاقوں، تحصیل کلر سیداں، ضلع جہلم اور آزاد کشمیر سے بھی لوگ یہاں اپنے مال مویشی خریدنے اور فروخت کرنے کے لیے آتے ہیں۔ یہ منڈی دیہی معیشت کا اہم مرکز تصور کی جاتی ہے جہاں ہزاروں افراد کا روزگار وابستہ ہے۔
حسبِ معمول عیدالاضحیٰ کے پیش نظر بڑی تعداد میں بیوپاری اور شہری اپنے قربانی کے جانور لے کر منڈی پہنچے تھے کہ اچانک پیرا فورس اور مقامی پولیس موقع پر پہنچ گئی۔ حکام نے اعلان کیا کہ یہ منڈی “غیر قانونی” ہے اور فوری طور پر جگہ خالی کی جائے۔ انتظامیہ نے مویشی مالکان کو ہدایت کی کہ وہ اپنے جانور گوجرخان یا کلر سیداں کی منظور شدہ منڈیوں میں منتقل کریں۔
اس اچانک کارروائی سے بیوپاریوں اور کسانوں میں شدید بے چینی اور اضطراب پھیل گیا۔ متاثرہ افراد کا کہنا ہے کہ وہ پہلے ہی جانوروں کی نقل و حمل پر بھاری اخراجات برداشت کر چکے ہیں جبکہ اب انہیں مزید 40 سے 50 کلومیٹر دور بڑی منڈیوں میں جانے پر مجبور کیا جا رہا ہے، جو ان کی مالی استطاعت سے باہر ہے۔
مقامی شہریوں نے انتظامیہ کے فیصلے پر سخت تنقید کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ دور دراز دیہاتوں سے تعلق رکھنے والے غریب کسان بڑے شہروں تک جانور لے جانے کے لیے مہنگے ٹرانسپورٹ اخراجات برداشت نہیں کر سکتے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ گاڑیوں کے کرائے عام آدمی کی پہنچ سے باہر ہو چکے ہیں، جس کی وجہ سے چھوٹے کاروباری افراد شدید مشکلات کا شکار ہیں۔
میڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے متعدد بیوپاریوں نے کہا کہ عیدالاضحیٰ کے موقع پر منڈی کی بندش نے ان کے روزگار کو شدید متاثر کیا ہے۔ ایک مویشی فروش نے کہا، “یہ منڈی نسلوں سے قائم ہے۔ غریب کسان اسی منڈی سے عید سے پہلے اپنی آمدن کماتے ہیں۔ بغیر پیشگی اطلاع کے منڈی بند کرنا سراسر ناانصافی ہے۔”
منڈی کی بندش کے خلاف علاقے میں شدید عوامی احتجاج بھی دیکھنے میں آیا۔ مظاہرین نے مطالبہ کیا کہ فوری طور پر منڈی بحال کی جائے اور اسے باقاعدہ سرکاری منظوری دی جائے۔ احتجاج کرنے والوں نے انتظامیہ سے اپیل کی کہ دیہی آبادی کی معاشی مشکلات کو مدنظر رکھا جائے اور اچانک ایسے فیصلوں سے گریز کیا جائے۔
دریں اثناء سابق وفاقی پارلیمانی سیکرٹری راجہ جاوید اخلاص نے معاملے کا نوٹس لیتے ہوئے عوام کو یقین دہانی کروائی کہ منڈی کو جلد قانونی حیثیت دلانے کے لیے اقدامات کیے جا رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا، “ان شاء اللہ کل تک مویشی منڈی کو باقاعدہ منظوری مل جائے گی، اور ہم مویشی مالکان اور بیوپاریوں کے ساتھ کسی قسم کی زیادتی نہیں ہونے دیں گے۔”
اس واقعے کے بعد روایتی دیہی مویشی منڈیوں کے انتظام، سرکاری پالیسیوں اور عیدالاضحیٰ کے موقع پر کسانوں کو درپیش مشکلات کے حوالے سے نئی بحث چھڑ گئی ہے۔ مقامی شہریوں نے ضلعی انتظامیہ سے مطالبہ کیا ہے کہ معاملے کو فوری طور پر حل کیا جائے تاکہ کسانوں اور بیوپاریوں کو مزید مالی نقصان سے بچایا جا سکے۔
Gujar Khan (Pothwar.com / May 25, 2026) — A wave of anger and concern spread across the eastern areas of Gujar Khan after the sudden closure of the historic cattle market in Islampura Jabbar by the Para Force with the assistance of local police. Farmers, livestock traders, and local residents have termed the action “an act against poor farmers and traders,” especially at a time when preparations for Eid al-Adha are at their peak.
According to local sources, the centuries-old cattle market of Islampura Jabar holds significant importance in the region. Traders and livestock owners from the entire eastern belt of Gujar Khan, Tehsil Kallar Syedan, District Jhelum, and even Azad Kashmir regularly visit the market to buy and sell animals. The market has long served as a major centre of rural trade and economic activity for surrounding villages.
As per routine, a large number of traders and local residents arrived at the market on the day with their cattle and sacrificial animals. However, the situation suddenly changed when officials of the Para Force, accompanied by local police, reached the site and announced that the market was “illegal” and must be vacated immediately.
Witnesses stated that authorities instructed livestock owners to shift their animals to officially approved cattle markets in Gujar Khan or Kallar Syedan. The abrupt decision reportedly caused panic and frustration among traders who had already spent money and effort transporting their animals to Islampura Jabar.
Local residents strongly criticised the move, saying that people living in remote villages, located nearly 40 to 50 kilometres away from Gujar Khan city, cannot afford the heavy transportation expenses required to shift cattle to larger markets. They argued that the cost of hiring vehicles is beyond the financial reach of ordinary farmers and small-scale traders.
Speaking to media representatives, several traders said the closure has severely affected their livelihoods during the crucial Eid season. “This market has existed for generations. Poor farmers depend on it to earn income before Eid al-Adha. Closing it without prior notice is unfair and unacceptable,” said one livestock seller.
The closure triggered strong public protests in the area, with residents demanding immediate restoration and official approval of the market. Protesters urged the authorities to consider the economic hardships of rural communities instead of imposing sudden restrictions.
Meanwhile, former Federal Parliamentary Secretary Raja Javed Ikhlas took notice of the situation and assured the public that efforts are underway to regularise the market. He stated, “God willing, by tomorrow, the cattle market will receive formal approval. We will not allow injustice against livestock owners and traders.”
The incident has sparked a wider debate regarding the management of traditional rural cattle markets and the difficulties faced by farmers in accessing officially approved facilities during the Eid season. Local citizens have appealed to the district administration to resolve the matter immediately to avoid further economic losses for traders and livestock owners.
