Leeds; Police have arrested a 42-year-old man in connection with two arson attacks on a masjid and a Sikh temple in Beeston.
The incidents happened within minutes of one another in the early hours of Tuesday morning. West Yorkshire Police confirmed yesterday that they were treating this as a suspected hate crime.
At 3.42am, police were alerted to a fire at the Jamia Masjid Abu Huraira Mosque, in Hardy Street, Beeston, where the main door had been deliberately set on fire.
Faith and community leaders were invited to a meeting with the force shortly after the incidents in an attempt to reassure them.
