Gujar Khan: Clean Water Crisis Deepens in Narali: Residents Betrayed by Election Promises

نڑالی میں پینے کے صاف پانی کا مسئلہ سنگین صورتحال اختیار کر گیا ہے۔ گاؤں کے مکین برسوں سے ایک بوند شفاف پانی کے لیے ترس رہے ہیں۔ موجودہ پانی نہ پینے کے قابل ہے اور نہ ہی گھریلو استعمال کے لائق۔ آلودہ پانی نے ہیپاٹائٹس، معدے اور مثانے کی بیماریوں کو عام کر دیا ہے۔

اسد علی مرزا، مقامی سماجی کارکن کا کہنا تھا: “ہمارے بچے برسوں سے زہر پی رہے ہیں، یہ پانی نہیں بلکہ بیماری ہے۔”

پی پی ایل کے فضلے نے پانی زہریلا کر دیا

نڑالی ویلفیئر آرگنائزیشن کی تحقیق کے مطابق پی پی ایل آہدی آئل فیلڈ کا کیمیائی فضلہ نڑالی ڈیم میں پھینکا گیا، جس سے پانی زہریلا ہوگیا۔ اس آلودگی سے انسانوں کے ساتھ ساتھ مویشی بھی متاثر ہوئے، جبکہ نوجوان فوج اور بیرون ملک ملازمت کے مواقع سے محروم ہو گئے۔

انتخابات سے پہلے سیاسی وعدے، بعد میں خاموشی

عوامی دباؤ کے بعد پی پی ایل نے اپنی کوتاہی تسلیم کرتے ہوئے واٹر سپلائی سکیم، تین آر او پلانٹس اور ایک ڈسپنسری کی منظوری دی۔ مگر 2023ء کے عام انتخابات کے بعد یہ منصوبے فائلوں میں دب کر رہ گئے۔

مقامی حلقوں کے مطابق سابق وزیراعظم و اسپیکر قومی اسمبلی راجہ پرویز اشرف نے اس معاملے کو انتخابی کارڈ بنایا۔ پولنگ سے دو روز قبل انہوں نے نڑالی میں جلسہ کیا اور فلٹریشن پلانٹ کے افتتاح کا اعلان کیا۔

طارق محمود جرال نے کہا: “بعد میں پتہ چلا کہ یہ آر او پلانٹ نہیں بلکہ محض ریت چھاننے والی مشین تھی۔ عوام کے ساتھ دھوکہ کیا گیا۔”

ڈسپنسری کی عمارت مکمل مگر تالا بند

گزشتہ برس تعمیر ہونے والی ڈسپنسری کی عمارت تاحال بند ہے۔ چار دیواری اور گیٹ مکمل ہیں مگر اندر نہ عملہ ہے نہ دوائیاں، صرف ایک تالا لگا ہوا ہے۔ مقامی عوام سوال اٹھا رہے ہیں کہ واٹر سپلائی سکیم کے فنڈز کہاں گئے، آر او پلانٹس کہاں ہیں اور ڈسپنسری فعال کیوں نہیں کی گئی؟

آصف مغل کا کہنا تھا: “عوام کو خدمت کے نام پر مسلسل دھوکہ دیا گیا ہے۔ اب وقت آ گیا ہے کہ ذمہ دار ادارے فوری کارروائی کریں۔”

فوری اقدامات کی ضرورت

علاقہ مکینوں کا کہنا ہے کہ اب یہ معاملہ سیاست نہیں بلکہ بقا کا ہے۔ عوام اور سول سوسائٹی نے مطالبہ کیا ہے کہ حکومت اور ادارے فوری طور پر اس بحران کا حل نکالیں۔

Daultala (Pothwar.com, Muhammad Najeeb Jarral, August 18, 2025) – The clean drinking water crisis in Narali has worsened to an alarming level, leaving villagers deprived of even a single drop of safe water for years. Currently, the available water is neither fit for drinking nor suitable for bathing or washing clothes. This dire situation has led to widespread illnesses, including hepatitis, stomach, and bladder diseases.

According to research conducted by young members of Narali Welfare Organization, including Asad Ali Mirza, Tariq Mehmood Jarral, and Asif Mughal, chemical waste from the PPL Ahdi Oil Field was dumped into the Narali Dam. This contamination has poisoned the water, adversely affecting both humans and livestock. Children, youth, and the elderly alike have suffered serious health problems. Consequently, many young men from the village have been deprived of opportunities to join the army or secure jobs abroad.

After more than two years of struggle, the PPL administration admitted its negligence and approved a water supply scheme, three RO plants, and a dispensary for Narali. However, following the announcement of the 2023 general elections, these projects were shelved.

Political circles claim that former Prime Minister and Speaker of the National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf used the issue as a political card. Just two days before polling, he held a rally in Narali and announced the installation of a filtration plant. Later, it was revealed that instead of an RO plant, only a simple sand-filtering machine had been installed, misleading the public.

Similarly, although a dispensary building was constructed last year, it remains closed. Despite having walls and a gate, the facility has neither medicines nor staff—only a padlock at its entrance. Locals are now questioning where the funds for the water supply scheme went, what happened to the promised RO plants, and why the dispensary has not been made functional. Residents argue that they have repeatedly been deceived in the name of public service, and it is time for authorities to take immediate action to resolve this grave crisis.
