London: Bradford’s Al Sultan Tent Pegging Club Hosts Successful Championship Event

لندن (پوتھوار ڈاٹ کام، محمد نصیر راجہ، 19 جون 2026)برطانیہ کے شہر بریڈفورڈ میں السلطان ٹینٹ پیگنگ کلب کے زیر اہتمام ایک عظیم الشان نیزہ بازی (ٹینٹ پیگنگ) چیمپئن شپ کا کامیاب انعقاد کیا گیا، جس میں خطے بھر سے گھڑ سواری کے شوقین افراد، خاندانوں، تماشائیوں اور ماہر سواروں نے بڑی تعداد میں شرکت کی۔ گوجرخان کے نواحی علاقے موہڑہ حفیال، بیول سے تعلق رکھنے والی معروف سماجی شخصیت چوہدری منیر نے اس ایونٹ کو ’’بہت بڑی کامیابی‘‘ قرار دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ اس تقریب نے کھیل، ثقافت اور کمیونٹی یکجہتی کے بہترین امتزاج کو اجاگر کیا۔

نیزہ بازی، جسے انگریزی میں ٹینٹ پیگنگ کہا جاتا ہے، برصغیر بالخصوص خطہ پوٹھوہار کی ایک قدیم اور روایتی گھڑ سواری کا کھیل ہے۔ اس کھیل کی بنیاد قدیم جنگی حکمت عملی پر ہے جہاں گھڑ سوار تیز رفتاری سے گھوڑا دوڑاتے ہوئے نیزے کے ذریعے ہدف کو نشانہ بناتے تھے۔ وقت گزرنے کے ساتھ یہ روایت ایک باقاعدہ کھیل کی شکل اختیار کر چکی ہے جو سواروں کی مہارت، جرات، توازن اور نشانہ بازی کا شاندار مظاہرہ پیش کرتی ہے۔

چیمپئن شپ کا انعقاد لیڈز روڈ، ہیکمنڈوائیک میں کیا گیا جہاں پورے دن خوشگوار دھوپ اور گرم موسم نے مقابلوں کے لیے بہترین ماحول فراہم کیا۔ شرکاء اور تماشائیوں نے نہ صرف دلچسپ مقابلوں سے لطف اندوز ہوئے بلکہ خطے کے بہترین گھڑ سواروں کی شاندار کارکردگی کا بھی مشاہدہ کیا۔

مقابلوں کی ایک نمایاں خصوصیت شاندار ٹرافیوں اور انعامات کی تقسیم تھی۔ متعدد سواروں اور شرکاء نے ان ٹرافیوں کو ٹینٹ پیگنگ کی تاریخ کی بہترین اور خوبصورت ترین ٹرافیاں قرار دیا۔ اعلیٰ معیار کے انعامات نے مقابلے کی اہمیت اور وقار میں مزید اضافہ کیا جبکہ کامیاب سوار اپنی کامیابیوں کے اعتراف پر بے حد خوش نظر آئے۔

ایونٹ میں سنسنی اور جوش و خروش اس وقت مزید بڑھ گیا جب 36 سواروں پر مشتمل خصوصی الٹی میٹ پرائز ڈرا کا انعقاد کیا گیا۔ اس خصوصی انعام کے فاتح چیمپئن دانش خورشید گجر قرار پائے جو گجر ٹینٹ پیگنگ کلب کی نمائندگی کر رہے تھے۔ ان کی کامیابی پر میدان تالیوں سے گونج اٹھا اور ساتھی سواروں سمیت حاضرین نے انہیں بھرپور مبارکباد پیش کی۔

تقریب کے اختتام پر کلب کے ترجمان نے منتظمین، رضاکاروں، سواروں، سپانسرز اور معاونین کی خدمات کو سراہتے ہوئے کہا کہ چیمپئن شپ کی کامیابی سب کی مشترکہ کاوشوں کا نتیجہ ہے۔ انہوں نے اس بات پر خصوصی زور دیا کہ مقابلے کے دوران تمام شرکاء، گھوڑوں اور حاضرین کی حفاظت اور فلاح و بہبود کو اولین ترجیح دی گئی، جس کے باعث ایونٹ انتہائی منظم اور محفوظ انداز میں اختتام پذیر ہوا۔

منتظمین کے مطابق یہ چیمپئن شپ نہ صرف برطانیہ میں نیزہ بازی اور ٹینٹ پیگنگ کی بڑھتی ہوئی مقبولیت کا مظہر ہے بلکہ اس نے پاکستانی اور پوٹھوہاری ثقافتی ورثے، کھیلوں کے فروغ، نوجوان نسل کی حوصلہ افزائی اور کمیونٹی روابط کو بھی مزید مضبوط کیا ہے۔ انہوں نے تمام شرکاء اور حاضرین کا شکریہ ادا کرتے ہوئے مستقبل میں بھی ایسے اعلیٰ معیار کے مقابلوں کے انعقاد کے عزم کا اظہار کیا۔

Ch Munir of Mohra Hafiyal, Bewal in Gujar Khan  described the event as a “tremendous success,” celebrating both sporting excellence and community spirit.

Tent pegging, also known as Neza Bazi, is a traditional equestrian sport with deep roots in South Asian culture, particularly Pothwar. Originating from ancient military cavalry tactics, the sport involved horsemen galloping at high speed while using spears to strike targets. Today, it has evolved into a thrilling competitive sport that showcases exceptional horsemanship, precision, and courage.

Held at Leeds Road, Heckmondwike, the championship benefited from beautiful sunshine and warm weather throughout the day, creating the perfect atmosphere for competitors and spectators alike. Families enjoyed a day of exciting sporting action while witnessing some of the region’s finest horse riders demonstrate their remarkable skills.

One of the highlights of the championship was the presentation of what many participants described as some of the finest trophies ever awarded at a tent pegging competition. The quality and prestige of the awards generated considerable excitement among riders, many of whom expressed their delight and appreciation for the recognition of their achievements.

Adding further excitement to the event was the highly anticipated Ultimate Prize Draw, which featured 36 riders. The grand prize was won by Champion Danish Khurshid Gujjar of the Gujjar Tent Pegging Club, whose victory was warmly applauded by fellow competitors and spectators.

Speaking after the event, a club spokesperson praised the efforts of organisers, volunteers, participants, and supporters who contributed to the championship’s success. The spokesperson emphasised that while competition and entertainment were central to the event, the welfare and safety of all participants remained the highest priority throughout the day.

The championship not only highlighted the growing popularity of tent pegging in the United Kingdom but also promoted cultural heritage, sportsmanship, and community engagement.
