Kallar Syedan (Pothwar.com — Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi, September 23, 2026): Jamaat-e-Islami has temporarily postponed its “Super Long March” on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s request, while protest camps and sit-ins will continue until a meeting with the premier.
Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said the party would not withdraw its demands and would continue its campaign against inflation and the petroleum levy. He said the party would seek written assurances from the government.
The march, which started from Karachi, has reached Multan, where participants are currently stationed. The government says a Jamaat-e-Islami delegation will meet the prime minister after his return from New York.
Hafiz Naeem said the party would consider postponing the march until the first week of October but would not accept delaying tactics. He also said the party supported the constitutional right to peaceful protest and opposed political crackdowns.
Security has meanwhile been tightened in Islamabad ahead of protests planned for September 27, with containers placed at several locations.
