Kahuta (Pothwar.com Imran Zamir | March 02, 2026) — In a significant development in Kahuta, the court has acquitted an accused involved in a robbery case that led to the murder of a woman.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Khurshid Alam Bhatti announced the verdict in connection with a robbery and murder case reported at Kahuta Police Station in the Dhalitar area. The accused, identified as Chan Zeb, had been charged with carrying out a robbery at the residence of Muhammad Riaz along with his accomplices.
According to the prosecution, during the robbery, the suspects opened fire, resulting in the death of Muhammad Riaz’s wife. Following the incident, police registered a case and arrested the accused.
During the trial proceedings, the defense counsel argued that there was insufficient and inconclusive evidence linking the accused to the crime. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
Citing lack of sufficient evidence, the court ordered the acquittal of the accused, Chan Zeb.
Legal experts state that in criminal cases, a conviction requires strong and irrefutable evidence, and in the absence of such proof, courts are bound to give the benefit of the doubt to the accused.
