UK Announces Major Immigration Overhaul; New Restrictions Introduced in Asylum System

لندن (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کوم — محمد نصیر راجہ | 25 نومبر 2025)–برطانوی پارلیمنٹ میں امیگریشن کے نئے منصوبے کا اعلان کردیا گیا۔ہوم سیکریٹری شبانہ محمود نے اسائلم کے نظام میں اصلاحات کا اعلان پارلیمنٹ میں کیا اور کہا کہ پناہ حاصل کرنے والوں کو برطانیہ میں عارضی قیام کی اجازت ملے گی۔

برطانوی چانسلر ریچل ریوز کی جانب سے مڈل کلاس گھروں پر نیا ٹیکس متعارف کرانے کی تیاری,انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ پناہ گزین کا 5 کے بجائے 2 سال 6 ماہ بعد اسٹیٹس کا جائزہ لیا جائے گا، آبائی ملک کو محفوظ تصور کیے جانے پر پناہ گزین کو واپس بھیجا جائے گا۔

ہوم سیکریٹری شبانہ محمود نے یہ بھی کہا کہ پناہ کے طالب افراد متعدد کے بجائے صرف ایک اپیل کرسکیں گے، سیاسی پناہ گزین کو برطانیہ میں مستقل رہائش کےلیے 20 برس انتظار کرنا ہوگا۔

اُن کا کہنا تھا کہ محفوظ اور قانونی راستے سے برطانیہ آنے والے مستقل رہائش کےلیے جلد رجوع کرسکیں گے، یورپی کنونشن آف ہیومن رائٹس کے آرٹیکل 8 کے نفاذ سے متعلق نیا بل پیش کیا جائے گا۔

شبانہ محمود نے کہا کہ نئے قواعدکے بعد ای سی ایچ آر کے تحت خاندانی زندگی کا حق صرف انھیں ملے گا جو قریبی عزیزوں کے ساتھ رہ رہے ہوں گے۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ پناہ گزینوں کےلیے ہاؤسنگ اور ہفتہ وار الاؤنس کی بھی اب ضمانت نہیں ہوگی، گزشتہ 4 برسوں میں 4 لاکھ افراد نے برطانیہ میں پناہ طلب کی۔

The UK Government has announced a major overhaul of the country’s immigration and asylum system. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood presented the new immigration plan in the British Parliament, unveiling reforms aimed at tightening and restructuring the existing asylum framework.

According to the Home Secretary, individuals seeking asylum in the United Kingdom will now receive temporary permission to stay, rather than immediate long-term settlement pathways. She stated that under the revised rules, the review period for asylum status will be reduced from five years to two years and six months. If an applicant’s home country is later deemed safe, they may be returned.

Shabana Mahmood also announced that asylum seekers will be allowed to file only one appeal, replacing the previous system that allowed multiple appeals. Furthermore, those seeking political asylum will face a significantly longer wait time, requiring 20 years before becoming eligible for permanent residency in the UK.

She added that individuals arriving through safe and legal routes will be able to apply for permanent settlement much earlier. A new bill will also be introduced concerning the implementation of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), which relates to the right to family life.

Under the new rules, the right to family life will only be granted to those who are living with immediate close relatives. The Home Secretary further confirmed that the government will no longer guarantee housing or weekly allowances for asylum seekers as part of the restructured support system.
