Mator (Pothwar.com— Kabir Ahmed Janjua | October 21, 2025) — The Kahuta unit of the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has come under criticism for poor performance under Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s Suthra Punjab initiative. Despite the campaign’s objective to ensure cleanliness across Punjab, heaps of garbage are being reported in areas such as Grid Station and Dhapri, posing a serious threat of viral diseases.
Local residents have alleged that RWMC Kahuta has failed to maintain proper sanitation standards and is also mistreating low-paid municipal employees. Reports suggest that the cleaning process is largely symbolic — with one water tanker making limited rounds and a tractor dragging a broken brush behind it.
Under the Suthra Punjab campaign, RWMC was tasked with maintaining cleanliness across Punjab, but ground realities in Kahuta reflect a different picture. Piles of waste remain unattended in several areas, and the collected garbage from a few cleaned sites is being dumped in open fields near Sihali, creating severe health risks.
Moreover, several municipal workers under RWMC supervision have complained about delayed salary payments, adding to their financial hardships. Citizens have demanded immediate action from higher authorities to restore effective waste management and uphold the vision of a clean and healthy Punjab.
