Bradford’s “Curry Mile” to Shine at First-Ever Leeds Road Festival This Weekend

بریڈفورڈ کی مشہور “کری مائل” اس ہفتے کے آخر میں پہلی بار ہونے والے “لیڈز روڈ فیسٹیول” کا مرکز نگاہ بننے جا رہی ہے۔

یہ دو روزہ میلہ فیشن، ثقافت، کھانوں اور کمیونٹی اسپرٹ کو اجاگر کرے گا، جس کے بارے میں منتظمین کا کہنا ہے کہ یہ شہر کے سب سے زیادہ متحرک لیکن اکثر غلط سمجھے جانے والے علاقوں میں سے ایک ہے۔

فیسٹیول کا آغاز ایک شاندار گالا ڈنر سے ہوگا جبکہ ہفتہ اور اتوار کے دن موسیقی، فنون، کھانوں اور ہنر سے متعلق اسٹالز اور پرفارمنسز پیش کی جائیں گی۔

ہفتے کے آخر کا سب سے بڑا دلکش لمحہ پاکستان کے لیجنڈری لوک گلوکار عطا اللہ خان عیسیٰ خیلوی کی اتوار کو ہونے والی پرفارمنس ہوگی۔

کھانے پینے کی اشیاء اس میلے کا خاص مرکز ہوں گی جبکہ 40 سے زائد اسٹالز لیڈز روڈ، اٹک پارک اور بریڈفورڈ مور پارک میں لگائے جائیں گے۔

یہ فیسٹیول ویسٹ یارکشائر کمبائنڈ اتھارٹی، آرٹس اور کلچر کی تنظیم “دی لیپ”، ہاؤسنگ ایسوسی ایشن “ان کمیونٹیز”، اور دیگر فلاحی اداروں کی حمایت سے منعقد کیا جا رہا ہے۔ مسلم ایڈ بھی اس میلے کے ذریعے اپنے نئے نوجوانوں کے پروگرام “Step In” کو پیش کرے گا۔

ان کمیونٹیز کی کسٹمر وائس کی سربراہ سوزن گاڈبولڈ نے کہا:
“لیڈز روڈ بریڈفورڈ کی سب سے زیادہ متحرک گلیوں میں سے ایک ہے۔ یہ فیسٹیول علاقے کو چمکنے کا موقع فراہم کرتا ہے اور کمیونٹی اور کلچر کو شاندار کھانوں، موسیقی اور تفریح کے ذریعے اکٹھا کر کے منانے کا ذریعہ بنتا ہے۔”

London (Pothwar.com, Mohammad Naseer Raja – August 30, 2025):  Bradford’s “curry mile” is set to take centre stage this weekend at the first-ever Leeds Road Festival.

The two-day event will showcase fashion, culture, cuisine and community spirit in what organisers say is one of the city’s most vibrant but often misrepresented areas.

Launching later with a gala dinner, the festival promises a programme of music, art, food and craft stalls, with performances across Saturday and Sunday.

A major highlight of the weekend will be a performance by legendary Pakistani folk singer Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi on Sunday.

Food will also be at the heart of much of the activity.
The festival is backed by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, arts and culture organisation The Leap, housing association Incommunities, and charities including Muslim Aid, which is using the weekend to showcase its new youth programme Step In.

Susan Godbold, head of customer voice at Incommunities, said: “Leeds Road is one of the most vibrant streets in Bradford. This festival allows the area to shine and really celebrate the community and culture through everyone getting together and enjoying fantastic food, music and entertainment.”

Thousands are expected to visit the area over the weekend, with around 40 stalls spread across Leeds Road itself, as well as Attock Park and Bradford Moor Park.
