Gujar Khan: African Lion Recovered in Bewal; Wildlife Department Conducts Major Operation

گوجرخان : راجہ طارق ایوب | پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام | 8 جولائی 2025–گوجرخان کے علاقے بیول میں ایک غیر معمولی اور چونکا دینے والے واقعے کے دوران محکمہ وائلڈ لائف نے کامیاب کارروائی کرتے ہوئے ایک نجی رہائش گاہ سے افریقی نسل کا شیر برآمد کر لیا۔ یہ کارروائی اس وقت عمل میں لائی گئی جب محکمہ وائلڈ لائف کو بیول کے گاؤں ڈھیری میں ایک خطرناک جنگلی جانور کی موجودگی کی مصدقہ اطلاع موصول ہوئی۔

سرکاری ذرائع کے مطابق، یہ شیر دو مقامی رہائشیوں — ملک تصدق اقبال اور ملک اسد اقبال — کی نجی ملکیت سے برآمد ہوا۔ اطلاع ملنے پر وائلڈ لائف کی خصوصی ٹیم نے فوری کارروائی کرتے ہوئے مذکورہ جگہ پر چھاپہ مارا اور بغیر کسی مزاحمت کے شیر کو محفوظ طریقے سے اپنی تحویل میں لے لیا۔

محکمہ وائلڈ لائف کے اہلکاروں نے موقع پر موجود عملے سے شیر کی ملکیت کے قانونی کاغذات طلب کیے، تاہم وہ کوئی مستند دستاویز پیش نہ کر سکے۔ اس پر وائلڈ لائف ٹیم نے شیر کو فوری طور پر قبضے میں لے لیا۔

بعد ازاں شیر کو راولپنڈی کے ایوب پارک چڑیا گھر منتقل کر دیا گیا، جہاں اب تربیت یافتہ ماہرین اور ویٹرنری ڈاکٹرز کی زیرِ نگرانی رکھا گیا ہے۔ حکام کے مطابق شیر کی حالت تسلی بخش ہے۔

دوسری جانب، محکمہ وائلڈ لائف نے قانونی کارروائی کا آغاز کر دیا ہے اور گوجرخان تھانے میں ملزمان کے خلاف ایف آئی آر درج کرانے کی تیاری کر لی گئی ہے۔

محکمہ وائلڈ لائف کے حکام نے واضح کیا کہ جنگلی اور نایاب جانوروں کو بغیر لائسنس اور حفاظتی اقدامات کے رکھنا پاکستان کے قوانین کے تحت سنگین جرم ہے۔ عوام سے اپیل کی گئی ہے کہ ایسے کسی بھی غیر قانونی عمل کی فوری اطلاع دیں تاکہ عوام کی حفاظت اور جانوروں کی فلاح و بہبود کو یقینی بنایا جا سکے۔

یہ واقعہ رہائشی علاقوں میں غیر قانونی طور پر جنگلی جانور رکھنے کے حوالے سے سنجیدہ خدشات کو جنم دے رہا ہے، اور متعلقہ حکام نے اس مسئلے پر مزید کڑی نگرانی اور مؤثر نفاذ کی یقین دہانی کرائی ہے۔

Gujar Khan: Raja Tariq Ayub | Pothwar.com | July 8, 2025-In an unusual and shocking incident, the Wildlife Department carried out a successful operation in the Bewal area of Gujar Khan, recovering an African lion from a private residence. The operation was initiated after the department received credible information about the presence of a wild animal in the village of Dheri, located in the Bewal area.

According to official sources, the lion was found on the private property of two residents — Malik Tasadduq Iqbal and Malik Asad Iqbal. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a special wildlife team raided the premises and managed to secure the animal safely without any resistance or harm.

Upon arrival, officials asked for legal documentation or permits allowing possession of the lion. However, the staff present at the location failed to produce any valid paperwork. As a result, the lion was immediately taken into custody by the Wildlife Department.

The animal was later transported to Ayub Park Zoo in Rawalpindi, where it is now under the care of trained handlers and veterinarians. Authorities have confirmed that the animal is in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the Wildlife Department has begun legal proceedings and is in the process of filing a First Information Report (FIR) at the Gujar Khan Police Station against the individuals involved.

Officials emphasised that keeping wild and exotic animals without proper licenses and safety measures is a serious offence under Pakistan’s wildlife protection laws. They urged the public to report any such illegal activities to ensure both public safety and the welfare of wild animals.

This incident has raised serious concerns regarding the illegal possession of exotic wildlife in residential areas, and the authorities have vowed to strengthen monitoring and enforcement in the region.
