Rawat: District Rawalpindi Administration Orders Sweets and Bakers to Ensure Sale of Items by Net Weight Only

راوت (پوٹھوہار ڈاٹ کام، اکرام الحق قریشی – 06 جون 2025); راولپنڈی ضلعی انتظامیہ نے سویٹس اور بیکری مالکان کو سختی سے ہدایت جاری کی ہے کہ وہ تمام اشیاء صرف صافی وزن (Net Weight) پر فروخت کریں، اور ڈبے یا پیکنگ کا وزن قیمت میں شامل نہ کیا جائے۔

یہ حکم ڈسٹرکٹ آفیسر (آئی پی ڈبلیو ایم) – انسپکٹریٹ آف پرائسز، ویٹس اینڈ میئرز – کی جانب سے جاری کیا گیا ہے۔ اس میں بتایا گیا ہے کہ مجاز اتھارٹی کے نوٹس میں یہ بات آئی ہے کہ کئی مٹھائی فروش اور بیکری مالکان صارفین سے اشیاء کے ساتھ پیکنگ کا وزن بھی شامل کر کے وصولی کر رہے ہیں۔ یہ عمل پنجاب ویٹس اینڈ میئرز (انٹرنیشنل سسٹم) انفورسمنٹ ایکٹ 1975 اور 1976 کی کھلی خلاف ورزی ہے۔

نوٹس میں واضح کیا گیا ہے کہ پیکنگ کے وزن کی وصولی غیر قانونی ہے اور اس کو کسی صورت برداشت نہیں کیا جائے گا۔ تمام دکانداروں کو پابند کیا گیا ہے کہ وہ صارفین کو صرف خوراکی مواد کا خالص وزن چارج کریں اور دیانت داری کے اصولوں پر عمل کریں۔

ڈسٹرکٹ آفیسر نے مزید خبردار کیا ہے کہ اچانک معائنے کیے جائیں گے اور قانون کی خلاف ورزی پر سخت کارروائی کی جائے گی۔ خلاف ورزی کی صورت میں جرمانے، لائسنس کی معطلی یا دکان کی بندش جیسی سزائیں دی جا سکتی ہیں۔

انتظامیہ نے شہریوں سے اپیل کی ہے کہ وہ ہوشیار رہیں اور اگر انہیں کسی دکاندار کی جانب سے غلط تول کی شکایت ہو تو فوری اطلاع دیں۔

یہ اقدام مقامی حکومت کی جانب سے صارفین کے حقوق کے تحفظ اور فوڈ ریٹیل سیکٹر میں شفافیت کے فروغ کی کوششوں کا حصہ ہے۔

Rawat (Pothwar.com, Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi – June 06, 2025) – The Rawalpindi District Administration has issued a strict directive to all sweets and bakery shop owners, instructing them to ensure that all products are sold based solely on their net weight, excluding the weight of boxes or packaging materials.

According to an official order issued by the District Officer (IPWM) — Inspectorate of Prices, Weights, and Measures — it has come to the attention of the competent authority that many sweets and bakery vendors are not adhering to the regulations and are including the weight of packaging in the final price of the items. This practice, the order states, is a violation of the Punjab Weights and Measures (International System) Enforcement Acts of 1975 and 1976.

The notice emphasised that charging customers for packaging weight is illegal and will not be tolerated. It is the legal responsibility of all sellers to ensure fair trade practices by weighing only the edible content when charging customers.

The District Officer further warned that surprise inspections will be conducted, and strict legal action will be taken against those found violating the law. Penalties may include fines, license suspension, or even closure of business in severe cases.

The administration has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any instances where they suspect they are being overcharged due to unfair weighing practices.

This move is part of a broader effort by the local government to protect consumer rights and promote transparency in the retail food sector.
