Kallar Syedan (Pothwar.com, Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi, 28 January 2025) – A recent surge in burglaries in the Kallar Syedan area has left residents alarmed and demanding swift action from authorities.
Zaheer Akhtar, a resident of Sahot Badhal, filed a report stating that his younger brother, who resides in France, owns a house that has been locked for a week. Upon visiting the property yesterday morning, he discovered that the doors were open and belongings were scattered across the house. After inspection, it was found that three gold bangles, two bracelets, a ring, a chequebook, a national ID card, photocopies of children’s passports, and property documents had been stolen.
In another incident, Imran, a resident of Mohra Langrial Choa Khalsa, informed the police that his brother, also living abroad, owns a house maintained by their mother. She typically stays at the house during the day and spends nights at Imran’s residence. Upon visiting the house yesterday, she found the locks broken and the rooms ransacked. The thieves had made off with two 36-inch LCD TVs, two juicers, two irons, three large blankets, two trunks containing 20 unstitched garments, two bedsheets, and other household items.
Meanwhile, in Jamia Masjid Siddiq-e-Akbar, located in Mohalla Akbari Choa Khalsa, unknown culprits stole the mosque’s donation box. The mosque’s caretaker, Tahir Mehmood Bhatti, reported that during the Fajr prayers, he noticed the donation box missing. It was later found in a cemetery adjacent to the mosque, emptied of its contents. An estimated sum of Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000 in donations had been stolen.
Residents have expressed deep concern over the growing incidents of theft and have urged the police to take immediate measures to ensure the safety of their homes and public spaces.
