Gujar Khan: Public Protests Over Narrowing of Daultala–Gujar Khan Road, MPA Shaukat Aziz Bhatti Takes Immediate Notice

گوجرخان (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام، 26 ستمبر 2025) — پاکستان مسلم لیگ (ن) کے سینئر رہنما اور دولتالہ–گوجرخان روڈ منصوبے کے فوکل پرسن غضنفر علی کیانی نے ایم پی اے پی پی-9 راجہ شوکت عزیز بھٹی سے خصوصی ملاقات کی، جس میں زیر تعمیر سڑک سے متعلق سنگین مسائل پر تبادلۂ خیال کیا گیا۔

ملاقات کے دوران غضنفر علی کیانی نے اہل علاقہ کے تحفظات بیان کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ دولتالہ–گوجرخان روڈ کی اصل چوڑائی 16 فٹ تھی، لیکن اسے وسیع کرنے کے بجائے موجودہ سڑک اکھاڑ کر 12 فٹ چوڑی سڑک تعمیر کی جا رہی ہے۔ ان کے مطابق اس اقدام نے عوام میں سخت احتجاج کو جنم دیا ہے۔

غضنفر علی کیانی نے سڑک کے اطراف میں نالوں کی توسیع کا مسئلہ بھی اٹھایا اور زور دیا کہ برساتی پانی کے بہاؤ اور ممکنہ نقصان سے بچاؤ کے لیے نالوں کی لمبائی میں اضافہ ناگزیر ہے۔

ایم پی اے راجہ شوکت عزیز بھٹی نے معاملے کا فوری نوٹس لیتے ہوئے نیشنل ہائی وے اتھارٹی (این ایچ اے) کے حکام سے رابطہ کیا اور عوامی شکایات پر تفصیل سے بات کی۔ انہوں نے وفد کو یقین دلایا کہ سڑک کی چوڑائی اور نالوں کے مسائل کو حل کرنے کے لیے بھرپور کوشش کی جائے گی۔

راجہ شوکت عزیز بھٹی نے کہا کہ ذمہ دار انجینئر سے ضرور باز پرس کی جائے گی کہ 16 فٹ سڑک اکھاڑ کر 12 فٹ چوڑی سڑک کا تخمینہ لگا کر عوام کے ساتھ ناانصافی کیوں کی گئی؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ عوامی مقدمہ ہر فورم پر لڑا جائے گا اور شہریوں کے حقوق پر کوئی سمجھوتہ نہیں ہوگا۔

اس موقع پر غضنفر علی کیانی کے ہمراہ مختار علی کیانی، سابق کونسلر چوہدری خالد اور دیگر احباب بھی موجود تھے۔

Gujar Khan (Pothwar.com, September 26, 2025) — Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and focal person for the Daultala–Gujar Khan Road project, Ghazanfar Ali Kayani, held a special meeting with MPA PP-9 Raja Shaukat Aziz Bhatti to discuss pressing concerns regarding the ongoing road construction.

During the meeting, Kayani highlighted the residents’ grievances, noting that the original width of the Daultala–Gujar Khan Road was 16 feet. Still, instead of expanding it, the authorities had dismantled the existing road and begun constructing a 12-foot-wide stretch. This decision, he said, has sparked widespread protests among the local population.

Kayani also raised the issue of the roadside drainage system, stressing the need for an extension of the length of water channels alongside the road to prevent future flooding and damage.

Taking prompt notice of the matter, MPA Raja Shaukat Aziz Bhatti immediately contacted officials of the National Highway Authority (NHA) and discussed the public’s concerns in detail. He assured the delegation that he would make every effort to resolve the issues of road narrowing and drainage expansion.

Bhatti further stated that accountability would be ensured, questioning why the engineer in charge prepared an estimate for a 12-foot road after dismantling a 16-foot road, thereby causing injustice to the people. He vowed to raise this public issue at every relevant forum, declaring that the rights of the residents would not be compromised.

On this occasion, Ghazanfar Ali Kayani was accompanied by Mukhtar Ali Kayani, former councillor Chaudhry Khalid, and other community members.
