Rawat: HIV Cases Rising Rapidly as Virus Spreads Beyond High-Risk Groups

روات (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام — اکرام الحق قریشی |21 اپریل 2026)— ماہرین صحت نے کہا ہے کہ ایچ آئی وی مخصوص گروپس سے نکل کرعام آبادی میں تیزی پھیلنے لگا، پاکستان میں ایچ آئی وی سے متاثرہ افراد کی تعداد 3 لاکھ 70 ہزار ہوگئی ہے، پاکستان کے 79 فیصد افراد ایچ آئی وی سے لاعلم ہیں۔سابق وفاقی وزیر صحت ڈاکٹر ظفر مرزا نے گزشتہ روز بتایاتھا بچوں میں بڑھتے کیسز نظام صحت کی ناکامی ظاہر کرتے ہیں، ایچ آئی وی اب عام آبادی اور بچوں میں بھی پھیل رہا ہے اسی حوالے سے ڈاکٹر قائد سعید نے کہا کہ غیر محفوظ انجیکشنز اور آلودہ خون پھیلاؤ کی بڑی وجوہات ہیں جبکہ ڈاکٹر رانا جواد اصغر کے مطابق بار بار آؤٹ بریکس نظام صحت کی کمزوری ظاہر کرتے ہیں۔
ماہرین صحت نے کہا کہ بلڈ بینکوں کی نگرانی اور خون کی مکمل اسکریننگ یقینی بنائی جائے، اس کے ساتھ ہی غیر محفوظ انجیکشنز کے خاتمے اور انفیکشن کنٹرول کو مؤثر بنانے کی ضرورت ہے، اگر فوری اقدامات نہ کیے گئے تو صورتحال سنگین ہو سکتی ہے۔

دوسری جانب ذرائع محکمہ صحت کی جانب سے بتایا گیا ہے کہ راولپنڈی میں ایچ آئی وی مریضوں کے اعدادوشمار کا ڈیٹا نہیں ہے جبکہ بینظیر بھٹو ہسپتال میں قائم ایچ آئی وی سینٹر بھی غیرفعال ہے۔

ذرائع کے مطابق محکمہ صحت نے ایچ آئی وی مریضوں کیلئے کوئی ڈاکٹر تعینات نہیں کیا، اور بینظیربھٹو ہسپتال میں ایچ آئی وی سینٹر میں کوئی ڈاکٹر دستیاب نہیں۔ذرائع نے بتایا کہ ڈیش بورڈ کی خرابی کے باعث مریضوں کے اعدادوشمار جاری نہیں کیے جا سکے، اڈیالا جیل میں گزشتہ سال 148 ایچ آئی وی مریض رپورٹ ہوئے تھے۔اس حوالے سے حکام محکمہ صحت نے کہا کہ ایچ آئی وی مریضوں کے اعدادوشمار آئندہ چوبیس گھنٹوں تک جاری کیے جائیں گے۔

Rawat (Pothwar.com — Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi | April 21, 2026)—Health experts have warned that HIV is no longer limited to high-risk groups and is now spreading rapidly among the general population in Pakistan. The number of people living with HIV has reached approximately 370,000, while around 79% of the population remains unaware of the disease.

Former Federal Health Minister Dr Zaffar Mirza stated that the increasing number of HIV cases among children reflects serious shortcomings in the healthcare system. He noted that the virus is now affecting both the general population and children.

According to Dr Qaid Saeed, unsafe injections and contaminated blood are among the major causes of the spread. Meanwhile, Dr Rana Jawad Asghar said that repeated outbreaks highlight weaknesses in the healthcare system.

Experts emphasised the need for strict monitoring of blood banks and ensuring proper screening of all blood supplies. They also called for the elimination of unsafe injection practices and stronger infection control measures, warning that failure to act immediately could lead to a worsening situation.

In a related development, health department sources revealed that there is currently no consolidated data available on HIV patients in Rawalpindi. Additionally, the HIV centre at Benazir Bhutto Hospital is reportedly non-functional.

Sources further stated that no doctor has been appointed for HIV patients, and no medical staff is available at the hospital’s HIV centre. Due to a malfunction in the data dashboard, patient statistics could not be released. Last year, 148 HIV cases were reported in Adiala Jail.

Health authorities have said that updated HIV statistics will be released within the next 24 hours.
