London: Thousands Celebrate the Joy of South Asian Weddings at Bradford’s “Shadmanny! Weekender”

بریڈفورڈ میں ہفتہ وار تہوار کے موقع پر ایک ہزار سے زائد افراد نے جنوبی ایشیائی شادیوں کی خوشیاں منانے کے لیے شرکت کی۔ یہ رنگا رنگ تقریب ’’شادمانی! ویک اینڈر‘‘ کے عنوان سے بریڈفورڈ ساؤتھ ایشین فیسٹیول کا حصہ تھی، جس میں ہفتے اور اتوار کے روز مختلف تقریبات کا انعقاد کیا گیا۔

تقریب کی خاص بات ایک دیو قامت ہاتھی کا پتلا تھا جو پریڈ کی قیادت کر رہا تھا۔ آمنہ خان، جو بریڈفورڈ ساؤتھ ایشین فیسٹیول کی شریک ڈائریکٹر ہیں، نے بتایا کہ ’’جنوبی ایشیائی شادیوں میں دلہا دلہن کو لینے کے لیے ہاتھی پر سوار ہوتا ہے۔‘‘ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ ’’یہ شاید اب تک کا سب سے بڑا پتلا تھا جو ہمارے لیے تیار کیا گیا۔‘‘

پریڈ کی ابتدا ہفتے کے روز دی براڈوے شاپنگ سینٹر سے ہوئی، جہاں دلہا اور ہاتھی کا پتلا سب سے آگے تھے۔ یہ پریڈ براڈوے کے ایک سرے سے دوسرے سرے تک گئی اور پھر حال ہی میں دوبارہ کھلنے والے بریڈفورڈ آرٹس سینٹر پہنچی، جہاں ’’شادمانی!‘‘ ویک اینڈر کی زیادہ تر سرگرمیاں منعقد ہوئیں۔

London (Pothwar.com — Mohammad Naseer Raja | October 16, 2025):More than a thousand people turned out to join a weekend festival in Bradford celebrating the joy of South Asian weddings organised by Aisha Khan.

The Shadmanny! weekender – part of Bradford South Asian Festival – saw a number of events held over Saturday and Sunday and featured a giant elephant puppet marching in a parade.

Aisha Khan, co-director of the Bradford South Asian Festival, said: “Elephants are used in weddings by the groom to collect his bride. “Apparently, it was one of the biggest puppets they have been commissioned.

With the groom and puppet elephant leading the way, the festival started with a parade in The Broadway Shopping Centre on Saturday.

The parade went from one end of The Broadway to the other and then went on to the recently reopened Bradford Arts Centre, where most of the Shadmanny! weekender activities were held.
