Gujar Khan: People of Gujjar Khan strongly protested against cruel tax in electricity bills

گوجر خان (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام، 03 جولائی، 2024) – گوجر خان کے رہائشی آج اپنے بجلی کے بلوں پر عائد کردہ “ظالمانہ” ٹیکسوں کے خلاف بڑے پیمانے پر احتجاج میں سڑکوں پر نکل آئے۔ اس سلسلے میں انجمن تاجران کے صدر راجہ محمد جواد کی جانب سے پرامن ریلی نکالی گئی۔ سینکڑوں مظاہرین قصبے کے مرکزی علاقے میں جمع ہوئے، جنہوں نے بینرز اٹھا رکھے تھے اور نعرے لگا رہے تھے کہ بھاری چارجز سے فوری نجات کا مطالبہ کیا گیا۔
مظاہرین، جن میں مقامی کاروباری مالکان، اور کمیونٹی لیڈر شامل تھے، نے بجلی کی بڑھتی ہوئی قیمتوں پر اپنی مایوسی کا اظہار کیا، جس کا ان کا دعویٰ ہے کہ اضافی ٹیکسوں کے حالیہ نفاذ سے اس میں اضافہ ہوا ہے۔ مظاہرین نے ہاتھوں میں بینرز اٹھا رکھے تھے جن پر مختلف نعرے درج تھے، بہت سے لوگوں نے بنیادی سہولیات کے حصول کے لیے اپنی صلاحیت کے بارے میں خدشات کا اظہار کیا، جو پہلے ہی زندگی کے بڑھتے ہوئے اخراجات سے دوچار گھرانوں پر مالی دباؤ کو نمایاں کر رہے تھے۔
ایک مقامی دکاندار علی احمد نے کہا، “حکومت کو یہ سمجھنے کی ضرورت ہے کہ یہ ٹیکس عام لوگوں کو تباہی کے دہانے پر دھکیل رہے ہیں۔” “ہم عیش و عشرت نہیں مانگ رہے، ہم منصفانہ سلوک اور ان ناجائز الزامات کے خاتمے کا مطالبہ کر رہے ہیں۔ سیاسی حکمرانوں سمیت تمام بڑے بیوروکریٹس کو بجلی کے یونٹ مفت دیے جاتے ہیں۔
احتجاج پرامن رہا، لیکن پیغام واضح تھا۔ رہائشیوں نے ٹیکس کی پالیسی پر فوری نظرثانی اور کمیونٹی پر مالی دباؤ کو کم کرنے کے لیے فوری اقدامات کا مطالبہ کیا۔ انہوں نے مقامی اور قومی نمائندوں سے بھی فوری ایکشن لینے کی اپیل کی۔
صورتحال بدستور کشیدہ ہے کیونکہ رہائشی حکومت کی طرف سے باضابطہ جواب کے منتظر ہیں۔ کمیونٹی رہنماؤں نے متنبہ کیا ہے کہ اگر ان کے مطالبات تسلیم نہ کیے گئے تو وہ اپنے احتجاج کو اس وقت تک جاری رکھیں گے جب تک کہ انہیں بجلی کے ٹیکسوں میں واضح کمی نظر نہیں آتی۔

In this regard, a peaceful rally was organized by Raja Muhammad Jawad, President of Anjuman Tajran. Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in the town’s central area, holding banners and chanting slogans demanding immediate relief from the burdensome charges.

The protestors, comprising families, local business owners, and community leaders, voiced their frustration over the soaring costs of electricity, which they claim have been exacerbated by the recent imposition of additional taxes. The protestors were holding banners with different slogans in their hands, Many expressed concerns about their ability to afford basic utilities, highlighting the financial strain on households already grappling with rising living costs.

“The government needs to understand that these taxes are pushing ordinary people to the brink,” said Ali Ahmed, a local shopkeeper. “We are not asking for luxury; we are asking for fair treatment and an end to these unjust charges. All the big bureaucrats including the political rulers are given free electricity units.

The protest remained peaceful, but the message was clear. Residents called for an urgent review of the taxation policy and immediate measures to alleviate the financial pressure on the community. They also appealed to local and national representatives to take swift action.

The situation remains tense as residents await a formal response from the government. Community leaders have warned that if their demands are not met, they will continue to escalate their protests until they see a tangible reduction in electricity taxes.
