London: Husband and parents jailed after ‘the wife is left beaten and tortured in Huddersfield

لندن: (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام، محمد نصیر راجہ، 15 فروری 2024) – اصغر شیخ  کو اپنی بیوی عنبرین فاطمہ شیخ کو بری طرح پیٹنے اور بے ہوشی کی حالت میں مرنے کے لئے چھوڑ دینے کے جرم میں جیل کی سزا سنا دی گئی۔عدالت میں بتایا گیا کہ آج سے نو سال قبل پیش آنے والے اس واقعے کے نتیجے مین عنبرین کوما مین چلی گئی اور آج تک کوما سے باہر نہ آسکی۔ اصغر شیخ کے والدین کو بھی اس واقع میں مجرم ثابت ہونے پر جیل کی سزا سنائی گئی۔

عدالت میں بتایا گیا کہ وہ جولائی 2015 کے بعد سے نہیں جاگی ہیں۔ عنبرین نے اپنے شوہر اصغر شیخ، ، سسر خالد شیخ، ساس شبنم شیخ،  اور بھائی اور بہنوئی ثقلین، اور شفوگا شیخ،  کے ساتھ ایک گھر شیئر کیا۔

جولائی 2015 میں اس کے لیے ایمبولینس بلائی گئی اور اسپتال میں ڈاکٹروں نے ٹیسٹو ں کے بعد بتایا کہ عنبرین کو ‘تباہ کن دماغی چوٹ’ آئی ہے۔ ان کا اندازہ تھا کہ اسے اندر لے جانے سے 72 گھنٹے پہلے تک چوٹ لگی تھی۔

شگوفہ، شبنم اور اصغر شیخ کو بھی انصاف کی راہ میں روکاوٹ بننے کا مجرم پایا گیا۔ پانچوں مدعا علیہان انصاف کی راہ میں روکاوٹ ڈالنے کی سازش کے مرتکب پائے گئے۔

اور آج (14 فروری)، عزت مآب جسٹس لیمبرٹ نے عدالت کو بتایا کہ عنبرین “آخرکار اپنی چوٹ کے نتیجے میں مر جائے گی۔” پاکستان میں اصغر کے ساتھ طے شدہ شادی کے بعد، عنبرین نے 2014 میں ہڈرز فیلڈ میں اس کے اور اس کے خاندان کے ساتھ شمولیت اختیار کی۔

تاہم، ایک سال سے بھی کم عرصے بعد وہ ہسپتال میں تھیں۔ جج نے کہا: “نو ماہ بعد، عنبرین کو ایمبولینس کے ذریعے انتہائی بے ہوشی کی حالت میں ہسپتال میں داخل کرایا گیا تھا، اس کے دماغ میں ایک تباہ کن چوٹ آئی تھی اور وہ کبھی ہوش میں نہیں آئی تھی۔”

عنبرین کی حالت کے بارے میں بات کرتے ہوئے، جج نے کہا: “اس سے زیادہ سنگین چوٹ کا تصور کرنا مشکل ہے، موت سے کم۔” اس نے شبنم، اصغر اور خالد شیخ کو سات سال اور نو ماہ قید اور شگوفہ شیخ کو 18 ماہ کی سزا سنائی، دو سال کے لیے معطل اور ثقلین شیخ کو چھ ماہ میں سے ایک کو دو سال کے لیے معطل کیا گیا۔

London: (Pothwar.com, Mohammad Naseer Raja, 15, February 2024) – Asgar Sheikh has been jailed after his wife was left in a vegetative state. His parents have also been sent behind bars after an incident which left Ambreen Fatima Sheikh permanently unconscious.

She has not woken up since July 2015, a court heard. Ambreen shared a house with her husband Asgar Sheikh, 30, father-in-law Khalid Sheikh, 55, mother-in-law Shabnam Sheikh, 53, and brother and sister-in-law Sakalayne, 24 and Shafuga Sheikh, 29.

An ambulance was called for her in July 2015 and once at the hospital, doctors found that Ambreen had suffered a ‘catastrophic brain injury’. They estimated that the injury had occurred up to 72 hours before she was taken in.

In December last year, it took a jury at Leeds Crown Court 10 hours and 21 minutes to deliver unanimous guilty verdicts in the case for causing or allowing a vulnerable adult to suffer serious physical harm.

Shagufa, Shabnam and Asgar Sheikh were also found guilty of doing an act intending to pervert the course of justice. All five defendants were found guilty of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

And today (February 14), The Honourable Justice Lambert told the court that Ambreen will “eventually die as a consequence of her injury.” Following an arranged marriage to Asgar in Pakistan, Ambreen joined him and his family in, Huddersfield, in 2014.

However, less than a year later she was in hospital. The judge said: “Nine months later, Ambreen was admitted to the hospital by ambulance in a profoundly unconscious state having suffered a catastrophic brain injury and she has never regained consciousness.”

“She was described as being intelligent, bright and ambitious and someone who would light up the room. She worked in Pakistan and at times as a teacher.”

Speaking of Ambreen’s condition, the judge said: “It is difficult to imagine a more serious injury, short of death.” She jailed Shabnam, Asgar and Khalid Sheikh for seven years and nine months and handed Shagufa Sheikh a sentence of 18 months, suspended for two years and Sakalayne Sheikh one of six months suspended for two years.
