نرگس بیگم اپنے شوہر کے ساتھ اپنی گاڑی میں موٹروے پر سفر کر رہی تھیں، جو ساؤتھ یارکشائر کے  قریب خراب ہو گئی۔ گاڑی ان کے شوہر محمد بشیر چلا رہے تھے۔اس حادثے میں ان کے شوہر محمد بشیر محفوظ رہے۔

عدالت میں بتایا گیا ہے کہ 62 سالہ دادی گاڑی سے باہر نکلی تھیں اور مدد کا انتظار کر رہی تھیں جب ایک مرسڈیز نے ان کی گاڑی کو ٹکر ماری، جس کے نتیجے میں ان کی گاڑی باہر کھڑی نرگس بیگم سے جا ٹکرائی۔ سانحہ کے بعد مسز بیگم  16 منٹ اور 21 سیکنڈ تک زخمی پڑی رہیں اور سمارٹ موٹر وے ہونے کے باوجود، ہائی ویز انگلینڈ ایکسیڈنٹ کا پتہ لگانے میں ناکام رہی تاکہ لین کو ٹریفک کے لیے بند کیا جا سکے۔

Nargis Begum was the passenger in a Nissan Qashqai car, driven by her husband, which broke down near Woodall Services, South Yorkshire, on September 9, 2018. Mrs Begum was being driven by her husband, Mohammed Bashir, who survived, from Derby to Sheffield.

Previous hearings have heard the 62-year-old grandmother had got out of the car and was waiting for help when a Mercedes hit the Nissan, causing it to plough into her. Despite Mrs. Begum being stranded for 16 minutes and 21 seconds before the tragedy, Highways England failed to spot the breakdown so the lane could be closed to traffic.

“She was the most caring, loving, and selfless person I knew. She had time for everyone. Losing our mother is the most painful and difficult thing we have ever experienced in our lives. To have her taken from us the way she was has been immensely traumatic for each and every one of us.”
