ناٹنگھم سٹی کونسل کے سینئر کونسلر لیاقت علی نے کونسل کے لارڈ میئر کی حیثیت سے حلف اٹھا لیا۔ ان کا تعلق لیبر پارٹی سے ہے۔ مختلف سیاسی و سماجی شخصیات اور پیپلز پارٹی بر طانیہ کے سابق مرکزی صدر سید حسن احمد بخاری، پیپلز پارٹی ورکر ایکشن کمیٹی برطانیہ کے جنرل سیکرٹری راجہ اشفاق، سیکرٹری اطلاعات راجہ امجد مظہر، حاجی بشیر آرائیں، صغیر کاظمی، چوہدری حنیف، خواجہ ذوالفقار، لالہ چوہدری محمد اقبال، راجہ اعظم، مقصود رانا شمشیر سبحانی، ملک طارق، پیر اعجاز محی الدین، خورشید مغل، راجہ اصغر خان، مقصود بخاری، ڈاکٹر اعجاز الٰہی، چوہدری سعید، اقبال گجر، چوہدری بشارت حسین اور دیگر مسرت کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ برطانوی سیاست اور معاشرے میں محنت اور لگن سے کام کرنے والوں کو صلہ ضرور ملتا ہے، کونسلر لیاقت نے ہمیشہ اپنے کردار سے کمیونٹی کی فلاح و بہود اور ناٹنگھم کی فضا کو پر امن رکھنے کے لیے جدوجہد کی ہے، ان کی کامیابی سے پوری کمیونٹی کا نام روشن ہو گیا۔
Nottingham; The new Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Councillor Liaqat Ali, was elected at Nottingham City Council’s annual meeting.
Born in Chakswari, Panyam in the District Mirpur in Azad Jammu Kashmir, Cllr Ali moved to Nottingham in 1983, at the age of 12, with his family. He currently represents the Radford & Park ward and has been Chair of the Arboretum, Dunkirk and Lenton, Radford and Park Area Committee as well as previously being involved with The Trusts and Charities Committee; Licensing Committee; Corporate Parenting Board and Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham Fire and Rescue Authority and Planning Committee.
During his civic year he is looking to help improve education in Nottingham and is currently acting as a school governor of Bentinck and Mellers Primary Schools. He also enjoys fund raising for charity and will be picking the Lord Mayors Charity in his first few weeks in office. Councillor Ali’s wife Robina Parveen will be his Lady Mayoress for the year.
