Rawalpindi (Pothwar.com, October 8, 2026, Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi): The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Rawalpindi has busted a major international cyber fraud network operating from a private housing society near Chakri Road and arrested multiple suspects allegedly involved in large-scale online financial fraud.
According to preliminary investigation, the network was operating under the name “Abbasi Call Centre” and was allegedly targeting foreign citizens, particularly residents of Australia, through deceptive online schemes.
Officials said the suspects created fake profiles on Telegram to establish contact with potential victims. They allegedly lured individuals by offering fraudulent YouTube subscription tasks and subsequently encouraged them to make cryptocurrency investments using USDT, promising financial returns.
Investigators believe the suspects used these tactics to gain the confidence of victims before inducing them to transfer significant amounts of money. The operation allegedly formed part of an organised network involving different levels of personnel, including the alleged mastermind, managers, team leaders and other operatives.
During the raid, NCCIA officials seized a number of computer systems, servers and mobile phones believed to be relevant to the investigation. The seized equipment is expected to assist investigators in tracing the network’s communications, financial transactions and alleged links with victims abroad.
Following the operation, a criminal case has been registered against the alleged mastermind, managers, team leaders and other members of the network under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 and relevant provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The agency has launched further investigations to determine the full scale of the alleged operation, identify additional suspects and establish the extent of the financial losses suffered by victims.
Investigators are also examining the digital evidence recovered during the raid to trace the identities of people allegedly operating the fraudulent accounts and to determine whether the network had connections with other cyber fraud operations.
The case highlights the growing use of social media platforms, fake online identities and cryptocurrency-related schemes in organised cyber fraud targeting victims across international borders.
