Meanwhile, significant progress has been reported under the Murree Development Plan. Out of 50 development schemes under the Rs19.6 billion programme, 40 projects have been completed, with approximately Rs15 billion spent so far. The Punjab Government has allocated Rs2.1 billion for Phase-I in the 2026-27 budget.
Deputy Commissioner Murree, Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, said that Phase I included the construction of 200 kilometres of major roads and 68 kilometres of link roads. The phase also featured a project to supply Murree with 1.75 million gallons of water daily and the treatment of 27 million litres of rainwater for public use.
He added that the development programme also included the upgradation of three hospitals and the provision of improved laboratory and healthcare facilities.
Under Phase-II of the Murree Development Plan, 88 out of 108 development schemes worth Rs 10.797 billion have already been completed, reflecting steady progress in infrastructure and public service improvements across the hill station.
