Gujar Khan: Smuggled Timber Worth Millions Seized on GT Road

گوجر خان (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام | 30 جون 2026) — پنجاب محکمہ جنگلات نے خیبر پختونخوا سے مبینہ طور پر اسمگل کی جانے والی قیمتی لکڑی سے بھرا ایک ٹرک گوجر خان کے قریب جی ٹی روڈ پر کارروائی کرتے ہوئے ضبط کر لیا۔ حکام کے مطابق یہ کارروائی محکمہ جنگلات کی ایک منظم انٹیلی جنس بنیاد پر کی گئی۔

ڈویژنل فاریسٹ آفیسر (ڈی ایف او) راولپنڈی، عامر امتیاز نے بتایا کہ ٹرک مانسہرہ سے روانہ ہوا تھا اور اس میں تقریباً 700 مکعب فٹ چیڑ (پائن) کی قیمتی لکڑی لوڈ تھی، جسے مبینہ طور پر غیر قانونی طور پر کاٹا گیا تھا۔

انہوں نے بتایا کہ محکمہ جنگلات کی انفورسمنٹ ٹیم نے خفیہ اطلاع ملنے پر راولپنڈی سے ٹرک کا تعاقب کیا اور گوجر خان کے قریب جی ٹی روڈ پر اسے روک کر تلاشی لی۔ دورانِ چیکنگ ٹرک میں سوار افراد لکڑی کی قانونی ملکیت یا اس کی نقل و حمل سے متعلق کوئی اجازت نامہ یا دستاویزات پیش نہ کر سکے۔

ڈی ایف او عامر امتیاز کے مطابق پاکستان فاریسٹ ایکٹ 1927 کے تحت فوری کارروائی کرتے ہوئے ٹرک اور لکڑی دونوں کو ضبط کر لیا گیا ہے، جبکہ مزید قانونی کارروائی کے لیے انہیں سہالہ فاریسٹ سیل ڈپو منتقل کر دیا گیا ہے۔

انہوں نے مزید بتایا کہ لکڑی کی غیر قانونی ترسیل میں ملوث افراد پر 55 لاکھ روپے جرمانہ بھی عائد کیا گیا ہے۔

محکمہ جنگلات کے حکام نے اس عزم کا اعادہ کیا کہ غیر قانونی کٹائی اور لکڑی کی اسمگلنگ کے خلاف کارروائیاں مزید مؤثر انداز میں جاری رکھی جائیں گی۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ جنگلات قومی اثاثہ ہیں اور ان کے تحفظ کے لیے قانون کی خلاف ورزی کرنے والے عناصر کے خلاف بلاامتیاز سخت قانونی کارروائی عمل میں لائی جائے گی۔

حکام کے مطابق واقعے کی مزید تحقیقات جاری ہیں تاکہ اسمگلنگ میں ملوث مکمل نیٹ ورک کا سراغ لگایا جا سکے اور تمام ذمہ دار افراد کو قانون کے کٹہرے میں لایا جا سکے۔

Gujar Khan (Pothwar.com | June 30, 2026) — The Punjab Forest Department has seized a truck carrying a large quantity of allegedly smuggled timber believed to have been transported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said on Monday.

According to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rawalpindi, Amir Imtiaz, the truck was intercepted near Gujar Khan on the Grand Trunk (GT) Road following a coordinated operation by the Forest Department.

The official said the vehicle had originated from Mansehra and was carrying approximately 700 cubic feet of chir pine timber, which had allegedly been harvested illegally. Acting on intelligence, a Forest Department enforcement team pursued the truck from Rawalpindi before successfully stopping it near Gujar Khan for inspection.

During the inspection, the occupants of the vehicle reportedly failed to produce any legal documents or permits proving the lawful origin or transportation of the timber. As a result, the authorities took immediate action under the provisions of the Pakistan Forest Act, 1927.

DFO Amir Imtiaz stated that both the truck and the timber have been confiscated and transferred to the Sehala Forest Cell Depot for further legal proceedings. He added that a fine of Rs. 5.5 million has been imposed on those involved in the illegal transportation of the timber.

Forest officials reiterated their commitment to combating illegal logging and timber smuggling, warning that strict legal action would continue against individuals and networks involved in activities that threaten Pakistan’s forest resources and environmental sustainability.

Authorities said further investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the smuggling network and identify all those responsible.
