Rawat/Rawalpindi; Strong Earthquake Tremors Shake Islamabad, Rawalpindi

راولپنڈی/روات (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام – اکرام الحق قریشی | 23 جون 2026) —وفاقی دارالحکومت اسلام آباد، جڑواں شہر راولپنڈی، پنجاب اور خیبر پختونخواہ کے متعدد اضلاع میں زلزلے کے شدید جھٹکے محسوس کیے گئے ہیں، جس کے باعث شہریوں میں سخت خوف و ہراس پھیل گیا۔ ابتدائی اطلاعات کے مطابق پنجاب کے اضلاع راولپنڈی، اٹک اور چکوال میں زلزلے کے نمایاں جھٹکے محسوس کیے گئے، اس کے ساتھ ہی فیصل آباد شہر اور اس کے گرد و نواح میں بھی زمین لرز اٹھی، دوسری جانب خیبر پختونخواہ کے اضلاع بنوں، ڈیرہ اسماعیل خان شہر اور اس کے مضافاتی علاقوں میں بھی زلزلے کے شدید جھٹکے ریکارڈ کیے گئے۔
زلزلہ اتنا شدید تھا کہ دفاتر اور گھروں میں موجود اشیاء ہل گئیں، جس کے فوراً بعد لوگ شدید خوف کے عالم میں کلمہ طیبہ اور استغفار کا ورد کرتے ہوئے اپنی جانیں بچانے کے لیے عمارتوں، گھروں اور دفاتر سے باہر کھلے میدانوں کی طرف بھاگ نکلے۔
بتایا جارہا ہے کہ پاکستان میٹرولوجیکل ڈیپارٹمنٹ نے ملک کے مختلف حصوں میں محسوس کیے جانے والے زلزلے کے جھٹکوں کی سائنسی تفصیلات اور اعداد و شمار جاری کردیئے اور بتایا کہ زلزلے کا مرکز افغانستان کا علاقہ تھا، زلزلہ آج سہ پہر آیا، ریکٹر اسکیل پر زلزلے کی شدت 5.4 ریکارڈ کی گئی، زلزلے کا مرکز پڑوسی ملک افغانستان کا ہندوکش ریجن تھا، زمین کے اندر زلزلے کی گہرائی 215 کلومیٹر تھی۔

Rawalpindi/Rawat (Pothwar.com – Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi | June 23, 2026) — Strong earthquake tremors were felt across the federal capital Islamabad, the twin city of Rawalpindi, several districts of Punjab, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, causing widespread panic among residents.

According to initial reports, noticeable tremors were experienced in the Punjab districts of Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal. The earthquake was also felt in Faisalabad and its surrounding areas. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, residents of Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and nearby localities reported strong shaking.

The tremors were powerful enough to cause household and office items to rattle, prompting people to rush out of homes, offices, and other buildings into open spaces. Many residents were seen reciting prayers and seeking safety as fear spread across the affected regions.

According to data released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the earthquake struck during the afternoon and measured 5.4 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of neighboring Afghanistan, at a depth of 215 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface.

No immediate reports of casualties or major damage were received; however, authorities continued to monitor the situation and assess any potential impact in the affected areas.
