Kallar Syedan (Pothwar.com — Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi | May 09, 2026) — A timely action by the Punjab Highway Patrol Check Post Chowk Pindori led to the safe recovery of two young seminary students who had allegedly fled their religious school due to mistreatment and abuse.
According to details, Incharge Check Post Sub-Inspector Afzal Mahmood spotted 13-year-old Muhammad Sajjad and 9-year-old Muhammad Ilyas wandering suspiciously on the roadside during a routine patrol late at night.
During initial questioning, the children revealed that they were students at a religious seminary in Kallar Syedan and had allegedly run away because of inappropriate behaviour and physical punishment by a teacher.
The patrol police acted responsibly by contacting the children’s parents and safely handing them over to their families.
The incident, however, has once again raised serious concerns regarding the alleged mistreatment of young students in educational and religious institutions, and questions remain about how long such incidents will continue to occur.
