London: Chesham Community Comes Together for Shared Iftari Hosted by Town Council and Mosque

کونسل کے نمائندوں کا کہنا تھا کہ یہ تقریب صرف ایک مذہبی اجتماع نہیں بلکہ ایک اہم سماجی سرگرمی بھی تھی جس نے کمیونٹی کے مختلف طبقات کے درمیان تعلقات کو مزید مضبوط بنایا۔

“پرسکون اور خوشگوار ماحول کے باعث 300 سے زائد افراد جمع ہوئے، جہاں لوگوں نے نئے دوست بنائے اور پرانے دوستوں اور پڑوسیوں سے ملاقات کا موقع ملا۔”

تقریب میں خاندانوں، کمیونٹی رہنماؤں اور مختلف ثقافتی پس منظر رکھنے والے افراد نے شرکت کی، جو اس قصبے کی متنوع آبادی کی عکاسی کرتا ہے۔ کئی شرکاء کا کہنا تھا کہ اس تقریب کے ذریعے انہیں رمضان المبارک کی روایات جیسے روزہ، خیرات اور کمیونٹی کے جذبے کے بارے میں مزید جاننے کا موقع ملا۔

According to the council, the special Ramadan event was fully booked in advance, highlighting the growing interest among local residents to participate in community initiatives that promote understanding and inclusivity. The shared Iftari offered members of the Muslim community an opportunity to celebrate their traditions while welcoming non-Muslim neighbours to experience the cultural and spiritual significance of the holy month.

More than 300 people attended the gathering, creating what organisers described as a “relaxed and joyful atmosphere.” Guests shared traditional food, conversation, and stories while waiting for the sunset call to break the fast.

Council representatives noted that the evening served not only as a religious observance but also as an important social event that strengthened relationships across the community.

“The relaxed and joyful atmosphere meant that over 300 people gathered, making new friends and catching up with old friends and neighbours,” the council said in a statement.

As part of the celebrations, the town’s festive lights were ceremonially switched on at the time of Iftari. The illuminated decorations now brighten the High Street each evening and will remain on display until Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan fasting period later this month.

Local organisers described the evening as a successful example of cooperation between civic authorities and faith institutions. The collaboration between the Town Council and Chesham Mosque, they said, demonstrates how community partnerships can help foster mutual respect and stronger social bonds.
