Gujar Khan: Administrative Negligence : Broken Drain Cover Poses Serious Threat to Lives

گوجرخان (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام | 2 مارچ 2026ء)گوجرخان  میں انتظامیہ کی مبینہ غفلت کا ایک سنگین واقعہ سامنے آیا ہے جہاں ایک خطرناک حد تک ٹوٹا ہوا نالے کا ڈھکن شہریوں کی جانوں کے لیے مستقل خطرہ بن چکا ہے۔ یہ واقعہ حیاتسر روڈ کے علاقے میں، ٹال والی گلی سے ملحقہ نالے والی گلی میں پیش آیا ہے۔

مقامی رہائشیوں کے مطابق نالے کی چھت مکمل طور پر گر چکی ہے جس کے نتیجے میں کئی فٹ گہرا گڑھا بن گیا ہے جو کھلا اور انتہائی خطرناک حالت میں موجود ہے۔ کھلا نالہ پیدل چلنے والوں کے لیے شدید خطرہ بن چکا ہے، خصوصاً وہ بچے جو گلی میں کھیلتے ہیں اور بزرگ افراد جو روزمرہ آمدورفت کے لیے اس راستے سے گزرتے ہیں۔

علاقہ مکینوں کا کہنا ہے کہ انہوں نے متعدد بار متعلقہ بلدیاتی حکام کو شکایات درج کروائیں، تاہم تاحال کوئی عملی اقدام نہیں اٹھایا گیا۔ ٹوٹا ہوا نالہ اب ایک ممکنہ موت کے کنویں کی شکل اختیار کر چکا ہے۔ مقامی افراد کو خدشہ ہے کہ کسی بھی وقت کوئی بچہ یا بڑا شخص اس گہرے گٹر میں گر کر شدید زخمی ہو سکتا ہے یا خدانخواستہ جان سے بھی ہاتھ دھو سکتا ہے۔

علاقے کے ایک دکاندار نے بتایا، “ہم کئی بار حکام کو اطلاع دے چکے ہیں مگر مرمت کا کام شروع نہیں ہوا۔ ایسا لگتا ہے جیسے انتظامیہ کسی بڑے حادثے کی منتظر ہے تاکہ اس کے بعد حرکت میں آئے۔”

والدین نے بھی اپنے بچوں کی حفاظت کے حوالے سے شدید تشویش کا اظہار کیا ہے۔ نالے کے اطراف کسی قسم کی حفاظتی رکاوٹ، انتباہی بورڈ یا عارضی ڈھکن موجود نہیں ہے جس کی وجہ سے یہ جگہ مکمل طور پر غیر محفوظ ہے۔ رات کے اوقات اور بجلی کی بندش کے دوران اندھیرے کے باعث خطرہ مزید بڑھ جاتا ہے۔

شہریوں نے مقامی انتظامیہ، میونسپل کمیٹی کے افسران اور دیگر متعلقہ اداروں سے مطالبہ کیا ہے کہ وہ فوری طور پر موقع پر پہنچ کر نقصان کا جائزہ لیں اور ہنگامی بنیادوں پر مرمتی کام شروع کریں۔ ساتھ ہی حفاظتی اقدامات جیسے بیریئرز اور وارننگ بورڈز فوری نصب کرنے کا بھی مطالبہ کیا گیا ہے تاکہ کسی بھی ناخوشگوار واقعے سے بچا جا سکے۔

گوجرخان کے عوام نے بیوروکریسی اور سرکاری افسران سے اپیل کی ہے کہ وہ اپنی ذمہ داریاں ادا کرتے ہوئے کسی ممکنہ سانحے سے قبل عوام کے جان و مال کے تحفظ کو یقینی بنائیں۔

The incident has been reported near the street adjacent to the drain in the locality of Hayatsar Road, specifically linking to Taal Wali Gali.

According to local residents, the roof/cover of the drain in the “Nalay Wali Gali” has completely collapsed, leaving behind a deep pit that is several feet wide and dangerously exposed. The open drain has created a hazardous situation for pedestrians, especially children who frequently play in the street and elderly citizens who pass through the area daily.

Residents claim that despite repeated complaints to the concerned municipal authorities, no immediate action has been taken. The broken structure now stands as a potential death trap. Locals fear that at any moment, a child or an adult could fall into the deep gutter, resulting in serious injury or even loss of life.

A shopkeeper from the area stated, “We have informed the authorities multiple times, but no repair work has started. It seems the administration is waiting for a tragedy to happen before taking notice.”

Parents in the neighbourhood have expressed grave concern over their children’s safety. Due to the absence of warning signs, barriers, or temporary coverings, the open drain remains completely unprotected. During nighttime and power outages, the risk multiplies as visibility becomes extremely poor.

Citizens have urged the local administration, municipal committee officials, and other relevant departments to immediately visit the site, assess the damage, and initiate urgent repair work. They have demanded that safety measures such as barricades and warning boards be installed without delay to prevent any untoward incident.

The people of Gujar Khan are calling upon the bureaucracy and concerned government officers to fulfil their responsibilities and ensure public safety before an avoidable tragedy strikes.
