London: Pakistani-Origin Teen Killed in Knife Attack Outside Smethwick Masjid

لندن (پوٹھوارڈاٹ کام — محمد نصیر راجہ | 24 فروری 2026):برطانیہ میں چاقو بردار شخص نے مسجد کے باہر 3 نوجوانوں پر حملہ کر دیا، جس کے نتیجے میں پاکستانی نژاد نوجوان جاں بحق ہو گیا۔یہ واقعہ برمنگھم سے ملحقہ قصبے اسمتھ وِک میں واقع اولڈ بری جامع مسجد کے باہر جمعے کی شام اس وقت پیش آیا جب نمازی تراویح کی ادائیگی میں مصروف تھے۔
جاں بحق ہونے والے نوجوان کی شناخت 18 سالہ ذیشان افضل کے نام سے ہوئی ہے، جو اسمتھ وک کا رہائشی تھا

اس واقعے میں زخمی ہونے والے دیگر 2 نوجوان، جن کی عمریں 19 اور 22 سال بتائی گئی ہیں، مقامی اسپتال میں زیرِ علاج ہیں تاہم ان کی حالت خطرے سے باہر ہے۔رمضان المبارک کے دوران پیش آنے والے اس افسوس ناک واقعے سے مقامی کمیونٹی شدید صدمے اور رنج و غم میں مبتلا ہے۔نمازیوں کے مطابق جب وہ تراویح کی نماز ادا کر کے باہر نکلے تو پولیس اور طبی عملے کی بھاری نفری دیکھ کر حیران رہ گئے۔
واقعہ چونکہ مسجد کی کار پارکنگ میں پیش آیا تھا، اس لیے پورے علاقے کو گھیرے میں لے لیا گیا۔

پولیس نے نمازیوں کو تقریباً 40 منٹ تک مسجد کے اندر ہی رہنے کی ہدایت کی اور بعد ازاں انہیں اپنی گاڑیاں کار پارکنک سے نکالنے کی اجازت بھی نہیں دی گئی کیونکہ مقام کو جائے وقوع قرار دے دیا گیا تھا۔

ویسٹ مڈلینڈز پولیس نے قتل کی تحقیقات شروع کر دی ہیں اور جرم کے محرکات اور ملوث افراد کے تعین کے لیے تحقیقات جاری ہیں۔

London (Pothwar.com — Mohammad Naseer Raja | February 24, 2026): A knife-wielding attacker fatally stabbed a young man and injured two others outside a mosque in the United Kingdom, in a tragic incident that has left the local community in shock.

The attack took place on Friday evening outside Oldbury Jamia Mosque in Smethwick, a town near Birmingham, while worshippers were inside offering Taraweeh prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.

The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Zeeshan Afzal, a resident of Smethwick and of Pakistani origin. According to reports, he was attacked in the mosque’s car park area.

Two other young men, aged 19 and 22, were also injured in the incident. They were shifted to a local hospital for treatment and are reported to be in stable condition and out of danger.

The tragic event during Ramadan has deeply affected the local Muslim community. Worshippers said they were stunned to see a heavy police and emergency services presence outside when they completed their Taraweeh prayers and exited the mosque.

As the attack occurred in the mosque’s parking area, authorities cordoned off the entire vicinity. Police instructed worshippers to remain inside the mosque for approximately 40 minutes. They were later not permitted to remove their vehicles from the car park, as the location had been declared an active crime scene.

West Midlands Police has launched a murder investigation and is working to determine the motive behind the attack and identify those involved. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
