Rawat (Pothwar.com — Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi | February 23, 2026) A reception ceremony was organized in honor of the Rawalpindi Women Volleyball Team following their impressive performance at the Pink Games held in Lahore. The event was hosted by the Divisional Volleyball Association Rawalpindi.
President Dr. Professor Tanveer Afzal and General Secretary and former international player Mirza Shamrez Iqbal praised the team’s professional and high-quality performance during the tournament. They noted that Rawalpindi’s team delivered an outstanding display of skill while competing against strong teams from Lahore and Faisalabad.
Special appreciation was extended to team captain Tahreem Iman for her remarkable leadership qualities, which stood out during the competition. Coaches Ahsan Iqbal, Liaqat Ali, and Sajjad Ahmed were also commended for their dedication and technical guidance.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Professor Tanveer Afzal emphasized that organizing more volleyball tournaments across the country would help popularize the sport. He stated that sports play a vital role in the physical development of youth and help reduce social distances within society.
The organizers also thanked Mehwish Abbasi from District Murree and Malik Muhammad Tafseer from District Chakwal for their special participation, noting that such encouragement is vital for boosting players’ morale.
Team captain Tahreem Iman presented several suggestions for future improvement, stressing the need for modern facilities and advanced professional training programs to further elevate the team’s performance.
