Norway: Pakistani Community Leaders Discuss Language, Youth and Identity Issues at Norway’s Parliament

ناروے کی سرد فضاؤں میں پاکستانی کمیونٹی کے مسائل کی گرمی نمایاں طور پر محسوس کی جا سکتی ہے۔ اسی جذبے کے تحت پاکستانی کمیونٹی کے ممتاز رہنماؤں چوہدری اسماعیل سرور بٹھیاں، راجہ عاشق حسین، چوہدری تنویر احمد میکن، چوہدری وسیم شہزاد، راشد علی اعوان اور عقیل قادر نے پارلیمنٹ ہاؤس میں رکنِ قومی اسمبلی اور لیبر پارٹی کے نمائندے فرخ قریشی سے ملاقات کی۔

یہ ملاقات محض رسمی گفتگو تک محدود نہ رہی بلکہ زبان، شناخت اور نئی نسل کے مستقبل جیسے اہم موضوعات پر تفصیلی تبادلہ خیال کیا گیا۔ فرخ قریشی نے اردو زبان میں اظہارِ خیال کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ زبان صرف رابطے کا ذریعہ نہیں بلکہ شناخت اور ثقافت کی بنیاد ہے۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ ان کے والدین پاکستانی ہیں اور انہوں نے اپنی اولاد کو اردو سکھا کر اپنی جڑوں سے جوڑے رکھا ہے۔

وفد کے دیگر اراکین نے اس بات پر زور دیا کہ زبان اور روایات سے وابستگی نوجوانوں کو معاشرتی طور پر مضبوط بناتی ہے۔ نوجوانوں میں بڑھتے ہوئے جرائم کے حوالے سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے رہنماؤں نے واضح کیا کہ صرف سزا اور جرمانے مسائل کا حل نہیں، بلکہ رہنمائی، تعلیم، مثبت سرگرمیاں اور سماجی مدد ہی نوجوانوں کو درست سمت دے سکتی ہیں۔

ملاقات میں اس سنگین مسئلے کی نشاندہی بھی کی گئی کہ اعلیٰ تعلیم یافتہ تارکین وطن کو ان کی صلاحیتوں کے مطابق روزگار نہ ملنا مایوسی اور احساسِ محرومی کو جنم دے رہا ہے۔ اس کے ساتھ ساتھ دائیں بازو کی جماعتوں اور تارکین وطن مخالف گروہوں کی جانب سے مسلمانوں کے خلاف بڑھتی منفی بیان بازی پر بھی تشویش کا اظہار کیا گیا۔ افسوسناک امر یہ ہے کہ اب بائیں بازو کی بعض جماعتوں کی جانب سے بھی ایسے بیانات سامنے آ رہے ہیں، جو پہلے صرف دائیں بازو تک محدود تھے۔

ملاقات کے اختتام پر فرخ قریشی نے وفد کو پارلیمنٹ ہاؤس کا تفصیلی دورہ کرایا اور پارلیمانی روایات و جمہوری نظام سے آگاہ کیا۔ انہوں نے وفد کی تجاویز کو غور سے سننے اور انہیں متعلقہ فورمز پر مؤثر انداز میں اٹھانے کی یقین دہانی کرائی۔

یہ ملاقات اس بات کی عکاس ہے کہ ناروے میں پاکستانی کمیونٹی اپنے مسائل کے حل کے لیے تعمیری، پرامن اور جمہوری مکالمے کو ترجیح دیتی ہے، جو ایک ہم آہنگ اور مثبت معاشرتی مستقبل کی بنیاد رکھتا ہے۔

Despite Norway’s cold climate, the warmth of concerns surrounding the Pakistani community was clearly felt during an important meeting at the Parliament House. Prominent Pakistani community leaders, including Chaudhry Ismail Sarwar Batthian, Raja Ashiq Hussain, Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmed Maken, Chaudhry Waseem Shehzad, Rashid Ali Awan and Aqil Qadir, met with Member of Parliament and Labour Party representative Farrukh Qureshi.

The meeting went beyond formalities and focused on key issues such as language preservation, cultural identity and the future of the younger generation. Speaking in Urdu, Farrukh Qureshi emphasised that language is not merely a tool of communication but the foundation of identity and culture. He shared that his parents are Pakistani and that he ensured his children learned Urdu to remain connected to their roots.

Community leaders stressed that strong ties to language and traditions help strengthen young people socially. Addressing the rise in youth-related crime, they highlighted that punishment alone is not a solution; guidance, education, positive engagement and social support are essential to steer youth toward social well-being.

Another major concern raised during the discussion was the lack of suitable employment opportunities for highly educated immigrants, which often leads to frustration and alienation. Participants also expressed serious concern over the increasing negative rhetoric against Muslims and immigrants by right-wing parties. Alarmingly, similar remarks are now also being echoed by some left-wing groups, a trend described as deeply troubling for the community.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Farrukh Qureshi gave the delegation a detailed tour of the Parliament House, introducing them to parliamentary traditions and democratic processes. He attentively listened to their concerns and assured them that these issues would be raised effectively at relevant forums.

The meeting reflects the Pakistani community’s commitment to constructive, peaceful and democratic dialogue, strengthening trust between representatives and laying the groundwork for a more inclusive and positive future in Norway.
