The event, held at a community hall and attended by a large number of people, featured Pakistani cleric Pir Haq Khateeb Badshah, popularly known among followers as “Chuf Chuf Pir.” The gathering had been organised as a religious programme by the local community.
According to eyewitnesses, the atmosphere inside the hall changed when Imam Shaykh Asrar Rashid, a well-known Islamic scholar, expressed his wish to engage in a debate during the programme. This development reportedly led to disagreements among organisers and sections of the audience, resulting in heightened tension inside the venue.
Shortly afterwards, Pir Haq Khateeb Badshah was escorted off the stage by organisers and subsequently left the hall, which at the time remained filled with attendees. The situation then escalated further outside the main programme area, where a group of local youths confronted the event organisers, questioning the conduct and continuation of the gathering.
As voices were raised and concerns grew about public order, police were called to the scene. Officers attended the community hall and worked to calm the situation and prevent any further escalation. No serious injuries were reported, and there were no immediate reports of arrests.
Following police advice and in the interest of safety, organisers decided to shut down the event before its scheduled conclusion. Attendees were asked to leave the premises in an orderly manner.
A police spokesperson later confirmed that officers had been deployed to manage a disturbance at the venue and that the situation was brought under control. “Our priority was to ensure the safety of all those present and to prevent any breach of the peace,” the spokesperson said.
Organisers have not yet issued a detailed public statement, but sources close to the event said the decision to end the programme early was taken to avoid further conflict.
