Rawat (Potohar Dot Com — Reporter: Ikram ul Haq Qureshi | February 19, 2026) — The City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has finalised comprehensive traffic arrangements for the holy month of Ramadan to ensure smooth flow of traffic and maximum facilitation for citizens across the city.
According to official details, more than 900 traffic officers and wardens will perform duty during Ramadan. Special arrangements have been completed for Taraweeh prayers, mosques, busy commercial centres, and Ramazan relief and discount bazaars to prevent congestion and ensure public convenience.
On the directives of Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam, Security Officer Traffic Headquarters Inspector Muhammad Waseem has formulated a special traffic management plan for the holy month.
Inspector Muhammad Waseem stated that during Ramadan, over 900 officers and personnel will remain deployed across major roads, intersections, and commercial hubs. To curb one-wheeling, five special squads have been constituted, and 63 officers have been assigned to establish special checkpoints and take strict action against violators.
Additionally, 88 traffic personnel will be deployed outside mosques and at locations where Taraweeh prayers are held to ensure smooth vehicular movement. For Ramazan relief and discount bazaars, 37 officers, along with lifter vehicle,s will remain on duty to eliminate illegal parking and prevent traffic blockages.
Speaking on the occasion, CTO Farhan Aslam said that a comprehensive and effective traffic plan has been devised to provide the best possible facilities to citizens during Ramadan. He added that supervisory officers, along with field personnel, will be present on main roads and intersections during Iftar hours to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow. Traffic wardens deployed on duty will be provided with Iftar at their assigned points.
He further emphasised that traffic wardens remain on roads in a fasting state to serve the public and requested citizens to demonstrate patience while driving, avoid overspeeding, and refrain from reckless behaviour. He also urged the public not to park vehicles improperly during shopping hours to prevent disruption in traffic flow.
The CTO appealed to parents to keep a close watch on their children and avoid allowing underage driving of motorcycles and cars to prevent legal complications and ensure road safety during the holy month.
