Rawat: Major Overhaul of Public Transport System Planned for Rawalpindi–Islamabad

روات (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام — اکرام الحق قریشی | 16 جنوری 2026)—حکومت نے راولپنڈی اور اسلام آباد میں پبلک ٹرانسپورٹ اور ٹریفک مینجمنٹ کے نظام میں بڑی اصلاحات کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے، جس کے تحت تمام بڑے ٹرانسپورٹ ہبز کو رنگ روڈ پر منتقل کیا جائے گا۔ اس اقدام کا مقصد شہری علاقوں میں ٹریفک کا دباؤ کم کرنا، سفری سہولیات کو بہتر بنانا اور ہیوی ٹریفک کو شہر کے اندر داخل ہونے سے روکنا ہے۔

منصوبے کے مطابق جنرل بس اسٹینڈ سمیت تمام پبلک ٹرانسپورٹ ٹرمینلز کو راولپنڈی رنگ روڈ پر منتقل کیا جائے گا۔ اسی طرح اسلام آباد کی سبزی منڈی (سبزی منڈی) کو بھی رنگ روڈ کے قریب منتقل کیا جائے گا تاکہ شہر کے اندر ٹریفک کی روانی بہتر بنائی جا سکے۔

فیض آباد، 26 نمبر چونگی اور دیگر تمام غیر رسمی بس اور ویگن اڈوں کو مستقل طور پر ختم کر کے رنگ روڈ پر منتقل کیا جائے گا۔ منصوبے پر مکمل عملدرآمد کے بعد راولپنڈی شہر کے اندر کسی بھی قسم کی ہیوی ٹرانسپورٹ کے داخلے پر پابندی عائد ہو گی، جس سے ٹریفک جام، آلودگی اور سڑکوں کو پہنچنے والے نقصانات میں نمایاں کمی آئے گی۔

پیرودھائی بس اسٹینڈ حکومت پنجاب کی مکمل ملکیت اور کنٹرول میں آ جائے گا۔ یہاں سے راولپنڈی اور اسلام آباد کے مختلف علاقوں کے لیے لوکل بس سروس شروع کی جائے گی، جس کے کرایے 20 روپے سے 50 روپے تک ہوں گے۔ شہری کم خرچ میں بسوں کے ذریعے جڑواں شہروں کے کسی بھی حصے تک سفر کر سکیں گے۔

پشاور سے آنے والی ٹرانسپورٹ کے لیے اسلام آباد انٹرنیشنل ایئرپورٹ کے قریب ایک مخصوص ٹرمینل قائم کیے جانے کا امکان ہے۔ پنجاب سے آنے والی تمام ٹرانسپورٹ، چاہے وہ موٹر وے سے آئے یا جی ٹی روڈ سے، رنگ روڈ پر ہی جائے گی کیونکہ رنگ روڈ دونوں شاہراہوں کو آپس میں جوڑتی ہے۔

آزاد کشمیر سے مری کے راستے آنے والی ٹریفک کو فی الحال بھارہ کہو کے قریب روکا جائے گا، تاہم جیسے ہی رنگ روڈ کا اسلام آباد ایئرپورٹ سے بھارہ کہو تک کا حصہ مکمل ہو گا، یہ ٹریفک بھی راوت منتقل کر دی جائے گی۔

اس وقت رنگ روڈ راوت سے نئے اسلام آباد انٹرنیشنل ایئرپورٹ تک زیرِ تکمیل ہے۔ ایئرپورٹ سے بھارہ کہو کی طرف باقی ماندہ حصہ مکمل ہوتے ہی بھارہ کہو جانے والی تمام ٹریفک کو بھی راوت کی جانب موڑ دیا جائے گا۔ اس کے علاوہ دیگر تمام اضلاع سے آنے والی ٹریفک بھی صرف رنگ روڈ کے ذریعے گزرے گی۔

حکام کا کہنا ہے کہ ٹرانسپورٹ نظام کی یہ جامع تنظیم نو نہ صرف ٹریفک کے بہاؤ کو بہتر بنائے گی بلکہ راولپنڈی اسلام آباد کے شہری ٹرانسپورٹ نظام کو جدید، محفوظ، تیز رفتار اور عوام کے لیے زیادہ سستا بھی بنا دے گی۔

Rawat (Pothwar.com — Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi | January 16, 2026) The government has decided to implement a major restructuring of the public transport and traffic management system in Rawalpindi and Islamabad by shifting all major transport hubs to the Ring Road. This step aims to reduce traffic congestion, improve urban mobility, and restrict heavy traffic from entering city centres.

According to the plan, the General Bus Stand, along with all other public transport terminals,s will be relocated to the Rawalpindi Ring Road. Similarly, the Islamabad Vegetable Market (Sabzi Mandi) will also be shifted to the Ring Road area to ease traffic pressure within the city.

All major transport stops and terminals, including Faizabad, 26 Number Chungi, and other informal bus and wagon stands, will be permanently relocated. Once the plan is implemented, no heavy transport vehicles will be allowed to enter Rawalpindi city, significantly reducing congestion, pollution, and road damage.

The Pirwadhai Bus Stand will come under the complete ownership and control of the Government of Punjab. From this terminal, a new network of local buses will operate across Rawalpindi and Islamabad. These local buses will offer affordable fares ranging from Rs. 20 to Rs. 50, allowing passengers to travel conveniently to any part of the twin cities.

Transport coming from Peshawar is expected to be given a dedicated terminal near Islamabad International Airport. All transport arriving from Punjab—whether via the Motorway or GT Road—will be directed to the Ring Road, as the Ring Road connects both routes.

Traffic from Azad Kashmir, particularly vehicles arriving via Murree, will be stopped near Bharakahu. However, once the Ring Road section connecting Islamabad Airport to Bharakahu is completed, this traffic will also be diverted to the Rawat area.

Currently, the Ring Road is under construction from Rawat to the new Islamabad International Airport. After completion of the remaining section from the airport towards Bharakahu, all Bharakahu-bound traffic will also be shifted to Rawat. Additionally, traffic from all other districts will be routed exclusively through the Ring Road.

Authorities believe that this comprehensive transport reorganisation will not only streamline traffic flow but also transform urban transport in the Rawalpindi–Islamabad region, making travel safer, faster, and more affordable for citizens.
