London: Newly Independent candidate MP Ayub Khan of Birmingham takes oath at house of commons

لندن (پوٹھوار ڈاٹ کام ,محمد نصیر راجہ، 15, جولائی 2024) – برمنگھم سے نئے آزاد امیدوار ایم پی ایوب خان نے ہاؤس آف کامنز میں حلف اٹھا لیا۔ برمنگھم میں پیری بار کی جیت انتخابی رات کا جھٹکا تھا – اب آزاد فلسطین کے حامی رکن پارلیمنٹ ایوب خان نے جدید تاریخ میں شہر کے پہلے آزاد رکن پارلیمنٹ کے طور پر حلف اٹھایا ہے۔
ایوب خان نے بھرپور الیکشن میں لیبر کے خالد محمود کو 507 ووٹوں سے شکست دی۔ ان کے حریف مسٹر محمود نے تلخ مقابلہ کے اختتام پر انہیں مبارکباد پیش نہیں کی۔
ایوب خان ایک رکن پارلیمنٹ کے طور پر اپنی پہلی سرکاری ذمہ داریاں نبھانے کے لیے اس ہفتے لندن میں تھے۔ انہوں نے باضابطہ طور پر حلف اٹھایا اور وہ آزاد کی حیثیت سے پچھلے بنچوں پر بیٹھیں گے۔
ایک رکن پارلیمنٹ کے طور پر اپنے پہلے انٹرویو میں، انہوں نے بتایا کہ کس طرح ان کی اہلیہ صوفیہ کو گرنے میں دماغی چوٹ لگنے کے بعد ان کی مہم تقریباً پٹڑی سے اتر گئی۔ وہ باہر چلتے ہوئے زخمی ہو گئی تھی اور اسے ہسپتال لے جایا گیا تھا، بعد میں ڈسچارج کر دیا گیا ۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ وہ ایم پی بنائے جانے پر بہت خوش ہیں اور ان پر اعتماد کرنے کے لئے ووٹرز کا شکریہ ادا کیا۔ اور کہا کہ اس کا ماننا ہے کہ اس نے ایک ‘مثبت مہم’ چلائی ہے جس میں غزہ پر اپنے مضبوط موقف کے ساتھ مل کر اندرون شہر کی محرومی، غریب رہائش، کوڑے کے ڈھیر اور کمیونٹی سروسز کے نقصان کو اجاگر کیا گیا ہے

In his victory in Birmingham Perry Barr was the shock of the election night – now Independent pro Palestine MP Ayoub Khan has been sworn in as the city’s first Independent MP in modern history.

Mr Khan defeated Labour’s Khalid Mahmood by 507 votes during a fraught election. His rival Mr Mahmood did not offer him a congratulatory hand at the end of the bitter contest.

Mr Khan was in London this week to carry out his first official duties as an MP. He was formally sworn in and will sit on the back benches as an Independent.

In his first interview as an MP, he told how his campaign was almost derailed after his wife Sofia suffered a brain injury in a fall. She was injured while out walking and was taken to hospital, later discharged, only to suffer a seizure that required an emergency admission hours later.

He said he was delighted to be made an MP and thanked voters for trusting him; and said he believed he had run a ‘positive campaign’ highlighting inner city deprivation, poor housing, piled up rubbish and the loss of community services combined with his strong stance over Gaza.
