London (Pothwar.com \u2013 10 October 2026, Mohammad Naseer Raja) \u2013 An education consultant who worked with Wycombe Abbey Schools in Asia is standing trial accused of involvement in the theft of more than \u00a35 million from one of the UK’s highest-performing sixth form colleges.<\/h4>\n

Yasmin Sarwar, 48, is facing nine theft and fraud charges alleged to total more than \u00a35m during her time at Cardiff Sixth Form College, where she served as a director alongside her husband, 50-year-old Nadeem Sarwar.<\/h4>\n

The educator, who has previously highlighted consultancy work with the Buckinghamshire-based private school on her professional website, denies all charges.<\/h4>\n

The husband and wife are accused of stealing \u00a35m from Cardiff Sixth Form College.
\nMerthyr Tydfil Crown Court heard this week that Nadeem admitted stealing \u00a35m from Cardiff Sixth Form College between February 19, 2008, and October 31, 2016.<\/h4>\n

Prosecutor Mark Cotter KC told jurors the couple treated the college as their own “personal piggy bank” and allegedly used charitable funds to support a “lavish lifestyle”.<\/h4>\n

The court heard Cardiff Sixth Form College grew into one of the country’s top-performing sixth form institutions, attracting fee-paying students from around the world and gaining international recognition for its academic results.<\/h4>\n

Mr Cotter said Yasmin Sarwar began as an A-Level tutor before helping establish the college as a registered charity.<\/h4>\n

He alleged that she and her then husband repeatedly diverted money generated by the college for their own benefit.<\/h4>\n

“Their assault on the charitable funds was so relentless and widespread that it proved impossible for accountants retained by the college to produce proper audited accounts,” he told the court.<\/h4>\n

Jurors heard the couple later appointed accountant Ragu Sivapalan, 41, who allegedly accepted information provided to him “at face value” and produced misleading financial reports.<\/h4>\n

The prosecution further alleges that Yasmin created two companies, Ayass Ltd and Ayass Guardianship Ltd, which were presented as providing welfare programmes and other services to students.<\/h4>\n
