Gujar Khan (Pothwar.com, August 29, 2026): Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has launched a major infrastructure development project in Gujar Khan to address the long-standing problem of low gas pressure faced by residents of the city and surrounding areas.<\/h6>\n

The project has been initiated through the efforts of Brigadier Ejaz Qamar Kiani<\/strong>, with a focus on providing an effective and long-term solution to public complaints regarding low gas pressure and improving the reliability and safety of the gas distribution network.<\/p>\n

According to an SNGPL spokesperson, extensive work is currently underway under the Punjab Chief Minister’s pilot project along the GT Road and Main Bazaar, Gujar Khan<\/strong>. The project includes the construction of underpasses and service roads, along with the expansion and upgradation of the existing gas network.<\/p>\n

The infrastructure improvement programme also includes the installation of new Town Border Stations (TBSs)<\/strong> to enhance the capacity and operational efficiency of the gas distribution system.<\/p>\n

New Gas Pipelines to Improve Pressure<\/h3>\n

Officials said that, during the current phase of the project, new gas pipelines measuring 10 inches, 6 inches and 4 inches in diameter<\/strong> will be laid in different areas.<\/p>\n

The primary objective of the project is to address the persistent low gas pressure problem in areas adjoining the GT Road and other localities where residents have repeatedly faced difficulties in receiving adequate gas supply.<\/p>\n

The expansion of the pipeline network is expected to improve gas flow and strengthen the overall distribution system, particularly in densely populated areas.<\/p>\n

Old Metal Pipelines to Be Replaced with Polyethylene Network<\/h3>\n

On the directions of the local administration, detailed surveys will also be conducted in other densely populated parts of Gujar Khan as well as surrounding and suburban areas.<\/p>\n

Following the surveys, old, deteriorated and damaged metal pipelines will be identified and replaced with modern polyethylene pipelines<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Officials said the replacement of the ageing infrastructure would improve the durability, safety and efficiency of the gas distribution network. It is also expected to reduce the risk of gas leakages and other hazardous incidents, thereby improving public safety.<\/p>\n

The replacement of the old network is further expected to significantly reduce complaints related to low gas pressure and improve the overall reliability of gas supply to consumers.<\/p>\n

SNGPL officials said that the relevant teams are working day and night to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.<\/p>\n
