London (Pothwar.com \u2013 Mohammad Naseer Raja, July 12, 2026) \u2013Abdul Ghafoor, 60, “bravely confronted four masked men” before being stabbed twice in a suspected carjacking, according to his nephew.<\/h4>\n

The man was attacked on St Saviours Road in Alum Rock, Birmingham, at about 23:55 BST on Tuesday.<\/h4>\n

Majid Mahmood, a member of Birmingham City Council, said his uncle Abdul Ghafoor was the victim of the “appalling act of violence”, and that the attack had left his “family and the wider community deeply distressed”.<\/h4>\n

It happened days after a shooting in a nearby street which left a 16-year-old boy – also a relative of Mahmood – in a critical condition.<\/h4>\n

Ghafoor, chairman of the nearby Masjid Muhammadi mosque on Hartopp Road, remains in a stable condition in hospital, and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.<\/h4>\n

West Midlands Police, which is investigating both incidents, confirmed the account of a group wearing masks with regard to St Saviours Road, and, appealing for information, described the attackers as Asian.<\/h4>\n
