have warned that HIV is no longer limited to high-risk groups and is now spreading rapidly among the general population in Pakistan. The number of people living with HIV has reached approximately 370,000, while around 79% of the population remains unaware of the disease.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"465\" data-end=\"734\">Former Federal Health Minister <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Dr Zaffar Mirza<\/span><\/span> stated that the increasing number of HIV cases among children reflects serious shortcomings in the healthcare system. He noted that the virus is now affecting both the general population and children.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"736\" data-end=\"995\">According to <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Dr Qaid Saeed<\/span><\/span>, unsafe injections and contaminated blood are among the major causes of the spread. Meanwhile, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Dr Rana Jawad Asghar<\/span><\/span> said that repeated outbreaks highlight weaknesses in the healthcare system.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1299\">Experts emphasised the need for strict monitoring of blood banks and ensuring proper screening of all blood supplies. They also called for the elimination of unsafe injection practices and stronger infection control measures, warning that failure to act immediately could lead to a worsening situation.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"1301\" data-end=\"1574\">In a related development, health department sources revealed that there is currently no consolidated data available on HIV patients in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Rawalpindi<\/span><\/span>. Additionally, the HIV centre at <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Benazir Bhutto Hospital<\/span><\/span> is reportedly non-functional.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"1576\" data-end=\"1881\">Sources further stated that no doctor has been appointed for HIV patients, and no medical staff is available at the hospital\u2019s HIV centre. Due to a malfunction in the data dashboard, patient statistics could not be released.
