Since Muhammad Hanif Abbasi assumed office as the Federal Minister for Railways, the frequency of train accidents across Pakistan has reportedly increased. Incidents such as train derailments, overturned bogies, and even head-on collisions have been occurring every few days, raising serious concerns among passengers and the general public.<\/h4>\n

Despite constructing new buildings for some major railway stations\u2014originally built before independence\u2014the condition of the railway system remains alarming. Old train coaches are being superficially upgraded with minor repairs and fresh paint, while the critical issue of railway track maintenance continues to be neglected.<\/h4>\n

Authorities appear to be relying heavily on China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for the ML-1 railway upgrade project from Peshawar to Karachi. However, the project has yet to make meaningful progress, leaving the railway infrastructure in a deteriorating state.<\/h4>\n

This neglect has resulted in frequent derailments and disruptions. Meanwhile, the government and the railway ministry have shown little urgency in addressing these issues. Critics claim that instead of taking concrete action, officials are attempting to mislead the public through complex statistics and reports.<\/h4>\n

The situation is not limited to the ML-1 route. Other railway lines\u2014stretching from Peshawar through Attock, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan Sharif, Jamshoro, and Kotri\u2014are reportedly in even worse condition.
