data-start=\"352\" data-end=\"355\" \/>A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench, comprising Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Justice Chaudhry Sultan Mehmood, delivered a major verdict in the Adiala Jail inmate&#8217;s alleged murder case. The bench set aside the death sentence awarded by the trial court (Session Judge Rawalpindi) and acquitted all three accused.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"690\" data-end=\"995\">The High Court ruled that the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt through solid evidence, medical reports, eyewitness statements, or circumstantial proof. The murder case had originally been registered on January 1, 2024, on the complaint of the Superintendent of Central Jail Rawalpindi.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"997\" data-end=\"1499\">According to the FIR, during the night between December 31 and January 1, inmate Sabeel, son of Karamat, was reported ill by fellow inmates. The night-duty dispenser examined him and gave medication as his breathing appeared laboured. The following morning, when Cell No. 2 was opened for the daily count, Sabeel was found unconscious and was immediately shifted to the jail hospital, where the medical officer declared him dead. Marks found on his neck raised suspicion, prompting an internal inquiry.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"1501\" data-end=\"1914\">Several inmates stated during questioning that Sabeel had allegedly been tied, assaulted, and sexually abused by fellow inmates Muhammad Waqas, Asif, Naqas, and Bilal, who later strangled him using a cloth. Based on this information, police registered a murder case, filed a challan, and presented the accused before the court. The Additional District and Sessions Judge subsequently sentenced the accused to death.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"1916\" data-end=\"2350\">The convicts appealed the verdict before the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench. Their defence counsel, Chaudhry Asad-ur-Rehman, Advocate of Kallar Syedan, argued that the prosecution&#8217;s witnesses contradicted one another, medical evidence was inconsistent, and no reliable proof from the crime scene or jail record linked the accused to the alleged murder. He maintained that the trial court had failed to properly assess the evidence.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"2352\" data-end=\"2680\">After reviewing the case record, hearing arguments, and examining the nature of the evidence, the High Court concluded that the benefit of the doubt must go to the accused.
