2025)<\/strong> \u2014<br data-start=\"369\" data-end=\"372\" \/>In a major development in the <strong data-start=\"402\" data-end=\"468\">Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) mega corruption scandal<\/strong>, stenographer <strong data-start=\"483\" data-end=\"501\">Jahangir Ahmad<\/strong> has confessed in court to his involvement in the embezzlement of billions of rupees.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"918\">During his statement, Jahangir admitted that his share in the <strong data-start=\"652\" data-end=\"687\">Rs. The 2.5 billion corruption case<\/strong> was <strong data-start=\"692\" data-end=\"712\">Rs. 13.5 million<\/strong>, while senior RDA officers allegedly siphoned off the remaining billions. Following the approval of his <strong data-start=\"817\" data-end=\"841\">plea bargain request<\/strong>, Jehangir deposited the <strong data-start=\"866\" data-end=\"906\">first instalment of Rs. 4.5 million<\/strong> in court.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"920\" data-end=\"1237\">The <strong data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"971\">brother of the late former Director of Finance<\/strong>, who was the main accused and had committed suicide earlier, has been shifted to jail, while Jehangir was released after the plea bargain was accepted. It was also revealed that Jehangir is the <strong data-start=\"1166\" data-end=\"1234\">son-in-law of former District Nazim and ex-MNA Raja Javed Ikhlas<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"1239\" data-end=\"1478\">According to the prosecution, Jahangir had <strong data-start=\"1282\" data-end=\"1367\">transferred funds from RDA\u2019s official account into his wife Saima\u2019s bank account.<\/strong> His employment is now at risk as per NAB laws, which make him <strong data-start=\"1430\" data-end=\"1475\">ineligible for public office for 10 years<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n<h4 data-start=\"1480\" data-end=\"1644\">The case was heard by <strong data-start=\"1502\" data-end=\"1548\">Accountability Court Judge Sheikh Ijaz Ali<\/strong>, who announced the verdict.
