Kallar Syedan (Pothohar.com \u2014 Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi | October 30, 2025) \u2014 Advisor to the Punjab Ombudsman, Regional Office Rawalpindi, Muhammad Ihsan Tufail, has said that the Office of the Provincial Ombudsman is actively working to provide citizens with justice and prompt redress of grievances. Speaking to local media after holding an open court in Kallar Syedan, he stated that complaints against any provincial department fall within the Ombudsman\u2019s jurisdiction and are decided within 90 days.<\/h4>\n

He emphasised that providing immediate relief to citizens affected by negligence or injustice from provincial departments is the institution\u2019s top priority. Despite staff shortages, over 120 complaints have been processed in the past month at the Rawalpindi Regional Office.<\/h4>\n

Tufail described the Ombudsman\u2019s office as the \u201cpeople\u2019s lawyer,\u201d ensuring that actions are taken against government bodies and that decisions are implemented. He added that cases are closed once the complainant receives relief.<\/h4>\n

For citizens unable to travel, hearings are also conducted via video link. Complaints can be submitted through the Ombudsman\u2019s website, email, or by calling the helpline 1050.<\/h4>\n

He clarified that cases already under trial in courts do not fall under the Ombudsman\u2019s jurisdiction. The advisor reiterated that the goal is to provide justice at people\u2019s doorsteps, protect citizens from departmental negligence and corruption, and promote transparency and good governance.<\/h4>\n

Most of the complaints received during the open court were related to police, sanitation, and the revenue department. Local leaders, including Naveed Mughal and Kamran Naseem, highlighted issues such as broken streets, non-functional streetlights, and poor sanitation services.<\/h4>\n
