Gujar Khan (Pothwar.com, October 10, 2025) – The arrival of electric buses in Gujar Khan has brought much relief to residents, offering an eco-friendly and comfortable travel option between Gujar Khan, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad.<\/h4>\n

As one of Punjab\u2019s largest tehsils, Gujar Khan sees thousands of daily commuters \u2014 including government and private employees working in the twin cities, as well as students attending colleges and universities there. Until now, many faced high travel costs and inadequate transport options, often relying on unsafe private vans or expensive hostels near their institutions. Regular travellers welcomed the new service, noting that it would significantly cut travel expenses while providing a more convenient and comfortable journey. Previously, local operators charged over Rs250 for outdated and unfit vehicles.<\/h4>\n

Local trader Waheed Akhtar Qureshi hailed the project as a reflection of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif\u2019s concern for the people of Gujar Khan. He urged authorities to extend the routes to Daultala and Bewal, where commuters face high transport costs to reach Gujar Khan and Rawalpindi. Residents of these areas have also demanded inclusion in the service.<\/h4>\n

When contacted, Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Rawalpindi, Syed Abbas Sherazi said the initiative was part of the chief minister\u2019s vision to promote eco-friendly, quality public transport.
