Gujar Khan: Raja Tariq Ayub | Pothwar.com | July 8, 2025-<\/em>In an unusual and shocking incident, the Wildlife Department carried out a successful operation in the Bewal area of Gujar Khan, recovering an African lion from a private residence. The operation was initiated after the department received credible information about the presence of a wild animal in the village of Dheri, located in the Bewal area.<\/h4>\n

According to official sources, the lion was found on the private property of two residents \u2014 Malik Tasadduq Iqbal and Malik Asad Iqbal. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a special wildlife team raided the premises and managed to secure the animal safely without any resistance or harm.<\/h4>\n

Upon arrival, officials asked for legal documentation or permits allowing possession of the lion. However, the staff present at the location failed to produce any valid paperwork. As a result, the lion was immediately taken into custody by the Wildlife Department.<\/h4>\n

The animal was later transported to Ayub Park Zoo in Rawalpindi, where it is now under the care of trained handlers and veterinarians. Authorities have confirmed that the animal is in stable condition.<\/h4>\n

Meanwhile, the Wildlife Department has begun legal proceedings and is in the process of filing a First Information Report (FIR) at the Gujar Khan Police Station against the individuals involved.<\/h4>\n

Officials emphasised that keeping wild and exotic animals without proper licenses and safety measures is a serious offence under Pakistan\u2019s wildlife protection laws. They urged the public to report any such illegal activities to ensure both public safety and the welfare of wild animals.<\/h4>\n
