Rawat (Pothwar.com, Akram-ul-Haq Qureshi \u2013 July 06, 2025)<\/strong> \u2013 A Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin was robbed in a brazen daylight incident near Mall Plaza in Saddar, Rawalpindi and according to the FIR lodged at Cantt Police Station, the victim, Wajid Ali Barlas, reported that he had just exited a currency exchange outlet at Mall Plaza after converting 1,750 Canadian dollars into Pakistani rupees.<\/h4>\n

As he stepped outside the plaza, a man approached him, claiming he had lost some money and began engaging Barlas in conversation. While Barlas was distracted, the suspect signalled to two accomplices who were waiting nearby on Haider Road.<\/h4>\n

Together, the three men overpowered Barlas, snatched his bag, and fled the scene before he could raise an alarm. The stolen bag reportedly contained PKR 364,000 in cash<\/strong>, a mobile phone<\/strong>, credit cards<\/strong>, and a Canadian driver\u2019s license<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n

Barlas immediately reported the incident to the Cantt Police Station. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed, and law enforcement officials have promised to use all available resources to apprehend the suspects.<\/h4>\n

The incident has raised concerns about street crime in commercial areas like Saddar, which are frequented by locals and foreigners alike. Security has been tightened in the area following the incident.<\/h4>\n
