Rawat (Pothwar.com, Ikram-ul-Haq Qureshi \u2013 June 29, 2025): <\/strong>A suspected carjacker was killed in an exchange of fire with the Crime Control Department and local police late last night, while two of his accomplices managed to escape. The incident occurred in the Rawat area when law enforcement had set up a blockade following a tip-off regarding a car that had been recently snatched in Phase 8.<\/h4>\n

According to police sources, the three suspects were driving the stolen vehicle when they were signaled to stop by the joint team of the Crime Control Department (CCD) and Rawat police. Instead of complying, the suspects opened fire on the officers, triggering a shootout.<\/h4>\n

During the exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects was fatally shot and later identified as Asif, a habitual offender with a record of involvement in vehicle theft and kidnapping for ransom cases in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. His two accomplices managed to flee under the cover of darkness, prompting a large-scale search operation in the surrounding areas to track them down.<\/h4>\n

Police confirmed that the stolen vehicle, which had been taken at gunpoint from the Phase 8 area earlier in the evening, was successfully recovered during the operation.<\/h4>\n

One police constable, Saqlain Farhat, was struck in the chest by a bullet during the shootout but escaped serious injury thanks to his bulletproof vest.<\/h4>\n

Senior police officials, including SSP Crime Control Department and SP Saddar, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani praised the bravery and swift response of the CCD and Rawat police teams, commending their efforts in recovering the stolen car and standing firm in the face of danger.<\/h4>\n
