Making matters worse, new housing societies being developed within the Kahuta region are further contributing to deforestation.<\/h4>\n

Every year, the government allocates millions of rupees for tree plantation campaigns. However, residents claim these campaigns exist only on paper, with little to no transparency on how many saplings are actually planted or where they go. In a concerning pattern, fires are reportedly being set deliberately each year. According to locals, the fires serve two main purposes: erasing evidence of illegally felled trees and destroying planted saplings to cover up failures in the afforestation campaigns.<\/h4>\n
